Enchanting + Tailoring. Any good?Follow

I started a Warrior on a new server (PvP), and I already did the Mining/Blacksmithing scene, and I thought 'bleh, old hat' and one of the things I always wish I had, was the ability to enchant my own gear. So this time around, with this warrior, I'm going to do Tailoring+Enchanting.

So far, it seems to be doing alright. I'm playing an Undead on Dethecus (I think that's the name of the realm) and my Tailoring is on Lv65 or so, and I'm about to start Enchanting.

I've noticed that Tailoring can create greens that you can Disenchant for your powders/essenses, and I was wondering if this is a good or at least decent way to start your enchanting career? I don't have a gathering profession, and I noticed a few of my tailoring recipes call for light leather, so I'm wondering if I should start looking for a skinner to make friends with (or think about starting a skinner character, doesn't take That long to build up to using Light/Medium Leather).

Is this any good in the end run? I know that none of the armor and stuff I'll make that I'll actually be using as a Warrior, although, starting out being able to make all of my bags early in my career sure has a nice ring to it. *grins* Free bags.. well, almost free. 30 copper for 3 coarse threads per bag. Still...heck of a lot better than 5 silver per bag.

[Edit: Blah, stupid error.]

Ench/Tail go together like PB&J's. I'd skip the friends with a LW person, and use the AH as Leather is cheap on most servers. Of course use the greens you make tail to start ench. It's completly win/win. Sell items from Tailoring with a free enchantment on it for a sure fire sale, or disenchant for mats. Woot.

What's more, I strongly advise you download the mod enchantrix from curse-gaming, as it tells you what material you'll most likely get from a disenchantment of an item.

As for actually going those prof's with a warrior? Never heard of it myself. Usually I just suck it up with a warrior, go alch/herb, and ench my BOE items from an alt that went ench/tail. Though it'd be awfully nice to be able to throw up your own crusader late game with no worries.

I say go for it. Be unique.

Mmmm, cool.

I should definately look into that mod, I hate staring at an item wondering "should I or shouldn't I..." Especially with green quest rewards that I have no use for, as a lot of quests reward you with leather, or staves, or wands...sometimes cloth... I dun need any of this junk...some of it sells well, some of it, well, doesn't...

I'm only a level... errr, 60 or so, not sure... Enchanter, but I'm a level 300 Tailor. I find that once you have some start-up capital (about 4-5 gold), Enchanting can stand on its own legs. What you need to realize is that if you ever stop making money while doing regular enchants, then just sell off your materials. While dusts go for next to nothing on my server, Essences aren't bad. You can multiply your money with no chance of loss (besides time), since enchanting materials have no deposit.

To find cheap materials, just scan the AH for low-priced items. And Enchantrix is very good to give you a rough estimate; however, it is not always right. If you see green armor with a 100% chance of a blue shard, you should know it's wrong. This had happened to me many times; just remember the rule of thumb:
Armor - Dust
Weapons - Essence (about 66%, I find)
Blues+ - Shards (doesn't matter if they are weapons or armor)

Best of luck!

I think ench/tail is nice on a warrior. i started this myself couple days ago and got enchanting up to 123 at this time (took tailoring yesterday)
I dropped blacksmithign and mining for it, since i had the worst of luck on arcane crystals. (2 in 400 thorium :()

But i kinda cheat since i have been disenchanting alot with an alt :P so i had alot of ingredients to skill up fast.

at some point you can make azure silk pants. if you can make alot of them they are not expensive (16 silk and some thread and dye) and give good disenchants :)

but warrior and enchanting is very nice combo and well making cloth is fun :P

Well an enchanting /tailoring combo isn't all that great for a warrior but If you want enchanting tailoring is definitly the best thing for your other trade skill.

I once had a Night Elf Preist with tailoring/enchanting and I did have a decent bit of items. I'd still have him but I somehow got stuck as being dead but unable to ressurect.

Having enchanting on your main makes sense because you will need to disenchant Bind on Pickup items from instance runs to really make the most of it. However there is no need to have tailoring on the main as well, the items you will be disenchanting are Bind on Equip green items. Pick another tradeskill for your main and get the tailoring items from a guildie or from an alt.
