I trained to level one in mining and bought a mining pick. After I click on a vein and bend down to retrieve the ore, nothing ever shows up on the left side of the screen in the loot window to pick up. I just stay bent over the vein in perpetuity. Even if I move away, I stay bent over. I have waited a long period over it and nothing happens. Am I doing something stupid; do I need some other equipment; or is it some sort of bug?
Any answers appreciated.

No, you have found a bugged vein, take note, and dont mine their anybmore, usualy the soloution is to move your bend over backside over to a diffrent vein and mine that, it will"UN-Bug" you, but remember dont mine that vein again, on my server their is a bundle of earthroot(herb but the concept is the same) in darkshore that has been bugged since releace, i always chuckle when i see folks sliding arround the world hunched over form trying to pick it.

Ahhh. Many thanks for the response. This particular vein was in Darkshore also, so maybe the kinks on gathering are still being worked out in that zone.

I have now tried around twenty different veins in different zones, but the same thing happens every time, i.e. stuck in the looting position. Any other ideas anyone?
As an herbalist, I'd encounter that problem suprisingly frequently.
Easiest way to correct your character is to just logout/login and not harvest there again.
GM's claim to be aware of the problem, and their usual sugestion is also to logout/login.
