Easiest way to skill-up your enchanting profession is to Dis-Enchant(DE) items. Dis-Enchanting is basically destroying the item, to produce materials(mats) that can be used to enchant other items. NOTE - Skill-ups from DE'ing items slow down around 50 skill points and stop all together around 70 points. Mats recieved from DE'ing will vary according to;
1. Quality of item - Greens = dusts/essences, Blues = Shards.
2. Type of item - Armor =mainly Dusts, Weapons =mainly essences.
3. Level of item - Higher level items yield higher level mats.
There are several charts to show this better, just look around.
Also as the above poster stated, Do not take enchanting for your first low level character. Enchanting is considered a "hard-core" profession, as stated by Blizzard. Wait to take enchanting once you have a high level character, as you could them breeze thru the lower levels and actually start to sell enchants to others/support this proffesion. Enchanting is very very costly and few people make lots of money from this profession. Yes money can be made, but its really a hassle at mid to low levels, even at ubber levels its a pain! Nothing like sitting in a mian city and spamming "Selling Enchants..... " for hours on end. Especially answering questions from total fools asking for end-game enchants (+22 int, Crusader, Lifestealing. ect) asking for me to do these at a hugh loss!
True story follows!
Me: Enchanting Weapon - Lifestealing 100G, pst
Noob: I know your asking 100G but I only have 50G, Plz!!
Me: The mats for that enchant cost 95G, so I would be losing 45 Gold!
Noob: But, ur lvl 60 and UBB3R Richie!!!!
Me: I now "Who" Noob and find he's a level 35 mage.
Me: Why would I waste 45G enchanting your weapon? 1. I don't know you and 2. you really don't melee much, if at all, as a MAGE! and 3. You will probably throw your current weapon away in like 3 levels!
Noob: DO IT !! I WANT IT !!!!!
Noob: DO IT !! I WANT IT !!!!!
Noob: DO IT !! I WANT IT !!!!!
Me: /Ignore Noob
Totally messed up, YES, but just so funny! Really sad part is I get this reponce, toned down greatly, at least 2 times a day, when ever I try and sell Enchants! Why lots of people want you to do enchants at a loss, is just beyond me. Yes, they might have garthered some mats and now just know how costly some mats can be. So why ask me to provide you with the rest of the mats for much less than what you paided for them?
Sorry, just caught carried away. End Rant///
