Gnomish vs. Goblin Which to choose?Follow

#1 Sep 29 2005 at 4:52 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a 150 Engineering and know that I'm soon going to have to choose between Gnomish and Goblin Engineering. I know that Gnomish in general is Safer than Goblin but isn't really that PvP alligned which is what I am planning on doing.

Not PvP aligned?

Three words: gnomish death ray.

My record with this little beauty is 3500 damage.

Battle chicken gets amazing DoT when it rages too.

Most of the gob stuff is pretty expendable. Deals damage yeah but not much more efficiently than the bombs you can make anyway. Gnomish is good for messing people up.

Yes I can decide right now which one I want but I'm not sure, I like to Pvp with my 41 warlock so which one? Also I heard that one of them, cant remember if gnomish or goblin, but one of them only has a few stuff you really want and it last forever(lets just say its Goblin for example) and if you have a friend who is in goblin he can give you stuff that u can use over and over again, but the one your in, the stuff u make can only be used once? Anyone know what I'm talking about? So yeah which one would be good for PvP and those who do Pvp do you actually use ur weapons?

lulu.. first post etc just thought id give my 2 cents on this..
Gnomish stuff are mostly stuff you make and then they last forever.. however the good stuff are BOP so no friend can make em for you... :(

The way I plan to go for is probably to grind up gnomish to about 240 n make the netgun, deathray and battlechicken (might have missed one) then drop engineering n start over on goblin..

YES im aware of the work needed to put down on this but hey..

gnomish deathray and goblin dragon gun at the same time.. MUAAHAHHA!... (hmms.. maybe i should check if they share cooldown..)

well if your not into the massive grinding Id recommend going Gnomish n let the GOBLIN friend give you the bombs/mortars you want since most of the goblin nasties arn't BOP..

sorry if you find the post messy im not really used to this :)

if engineering is like leatherworking, even if you start over you cannot choose the other tree of recipes. you should check that before you click your engineering back to 0. hehe

whops.. that would be a pain yes hehe...

and want to add that i checked thru my schematics and saw that alot of the gnomish goodies are infact BOE... so the decision to choose isnt that easy afterall.. :(

lol yah you might wanna check that out, but if it works tell me please that sounds to good to be true, but remember a gnome using goblin stuff sometimes results in it backfiring for lots o damage, and vice-versa. so be careful

For all professions that branch you can only make the choice to branch once. If you got to 300 engineering as a goblin engineer and then dropped engineering and started over again you would still be a goblin engineer. You cannot switch.

GNOMISH all the way!! BoP's are better in my opinion.

Gnomish Death Ray ~ VS ~ Goblin Dragon Gun

Goblin Bomb Dispenser ~ VS ~ Gnomish Battle Chicken

All the rest of BoP (Binds on Pickup) I could really care less about.

i think its all a matter of opinion really ...and class i decided for my priest (holy as she is) a deathray and the trinkets are better suited for battle on the outskirts (6 sec channel for the deathray not a great think for a warrior in the midst of battle) but seeing as how i droped mining with my warrior to pick up goblin for the dragon gun and bombs(in the special case i need to pull and hold aggro on a couple dozen mobs) just for that little extra kick in thier face...

,but what do i know i havent tried tanking with any bombs other than EZ ThrowII and it seemed to pick up some of the adds and stragglers pretty good.

I think i may have over posted :)

You can begin choosing at 200. There's a quest you must complete. Schematics begin at 205 (at least for gnomish).

if your pr0 enuf ...

gnomish till 300 then dro pit and start engineering all over again to get goblin cos u always get to keep your gnomey stuffs cos they arent 1 charge

ok so i just read this entire thread, and im still a little confused...maybe i didnt read it carefully enough.

Gnomish = death rays (guns), battle chickens, and basically things that just say out and help you fight or are equipable weapons and what not.

where as,

goblin = bombs and grenade like goodies to further pummel your enemy with dmg and stunning effects?

am i getting this right?

reason i ask is i have a hunter in training (lvl 34 atm) and i want him to have like bombs and stun grenade like things so i can be shooting along my way and blast him down with grenades or have one more option to stun him with kinda thing. But im open to suggestions if my ideas are way outa what.

let me know

/me dusts off his boots

Well I guess i get the job of defending Goblin tree.

I got in to a arrangment with a buddie, I would take gob, he would take gnome, and for 3 long long months, I regretted my choice, he got the death ray, and i didnt, he got the battle chicken, and I didnt, sure we both got net guns but I felt cheated. I ended up shelving the toon and working on my druid.

Then BG came out, and now my tree seemed like a much better choice. I will not agure that in single player PvP, or while waliking down the raod and you see a single enemy, in those cases Gnomish wins hands down. Now things are diffrent, I dont do solo PvP any more, Now I do AV, and when 15 players run in to my cone and take aprox 600 dammage each thats 9k points of dammage, now, somebody defend the death ray, how can it do more dammage? Fleeing rogues......cant get them with a death ray, can get them with a dragongun.
Next is the battle chicken, in PvE the ckicken rules hands down once again, but when somebody drops it in BG, it is not so handy anymroe, the chicken dose it's dammage over time, if it isnt their(dead) it isnt doing dammage, and it is a eazy kill. Desperncer dosent suffer form such uselessness, goes in Boom, don, sure less dammage, but the bomb dose all its dammage the chicken is usualy killed fast, not to mention a chicken vs a 60 in plate is a joke, untill it zerks, 1 pont a shot. Once again in large scale PvP my goblin school is rocken.

make your choices, and enjoy, but finaly the day of the goblin nay sayers has come. Large scale PvP is owned by goblintree, but if you want to hang out for a few seconds while warming up your death ray to target one player and take dammage yourself, do that, if you want to lay down hurt to large ammounts of folks, take the Goblin method.

Both schools produce and use explosives and Goblin tree only gets one bomb that gnomes dont, and it is not the highest dammage bomb in the game(it wins on radius) so dont let that muck ya up, like I said, I think that gnome vs one, goblin vs packs of folks.

Are Goblin Jumper Cables XL BoP? Or can I take gnomish engineering and have my goblin engineering buddy make me a set?
