#1 Nov 16 2005 at 5:32 AM Rating: Decent
OMG this has been pissing me off for so long now i just have to have a rant. I'm so sick of not being able to learn recipes just because i'm only lvl48, this is such a pain in the ***** God damnit why can't they just let me make my potions in peace, away in my little lab. It's not fair, if i'd known this earlier i wouldn've wasted all that mulah earlier trying to lvl up my Alch as fast as possible. All that gold wasted *sniff sniff...

At level 48, you can hit the cap of 300...

Are you complaining that you can't use the potions you create? It's like saying "Why can't I use level 50 armor at level 48?"... it's because it is level 50.

You should be able to learn all alchemy recipes by level 35. Granted, it'll be tough as nails to get some of them.

Actually not, I'm lvl 41 and have 300 alchemy but there are several recipies that I cannot learn until I'm lvl 45 or 50.

Don't some require you to use a lab in a high lever instance? Flasks and stuff? Scholo I think it is.

Maybe I'm wrong. Can't talk. At work. Boss. Must go.

correct Flasks requrie a alchemy lab to make, but you can still learn them before that(if you got the gold to buy the recipe). I just want to know what cant be lerned until 45.

Weird. I was 48 and had 300 alch. Granted I couldn't up and go farm some of the final Herbs to make the final few points on my own (mountain silversage for one, black lotus for two). So for some of those final points I bought some of the herbs and made the pots myself.

No reason you can't get to 300 cap np. Granted you won't be making the major mana pots and elixirs for a while, but who cares? Superior mana is more than enough, and I've been using Major Healing pots for a while now.

The OP might need to explain what the actual problem is.

At lvl49, there are still recipes that I can not make. I'm complaining about not being able to make the recipes (I don't really care about not being able to use them). I'm already at 300 in Alch, but there some things that I can't make due to my lvl...

I can't make any of the flasks (and this is not because of lack of materials or gold to buy the recipe), can't make greater dreamless sleep potion, major mana potion, or major rejuvenation potion just to name a few.

I'm going to flat out say this is wrong... you can MAKE any potion if you have the skill for it and the recipe for it. Level does not determine when you can make something (besides the skill cap levels).

I went through the trouble of looking up all the flask recipes... and none of them have level requirements to learn the recipe (and thus, no level requirement to make them). There are some obvious limitations, though; you need to be 50 or 51 to enter Scholomance to find the alchemy lab to make flasks. And you need to be level 50 to consume the flask.

Aha! I think I finally figured out what you meant. What you were trying to say was...
"At level 49, there are still recipes I cannot get. For example, the Greater Dreamless Sleep Potion requires Friendly reputation with the ZG troll tribe, and I can't enter the instance to gain the necessary reputation until I am a higher level. Also, some potion recipes are BoP drops off end-game instance bosses, and I cannot yet enter those instances."

Your problem is not

What you mean is you physically cannot get all the recipes because you can't enter the instances. Your problem is not that you can't make certain potions; you don't even have their recipes. Well... not much to say about that. Basically, tough luck; if you hit 51, I think you'll be able to get every recipe. Not sure what the minimum is for ZG, so maybe not. Oh, and Flask recipes I believe are BoE, so you can technically say that you can't make those potions at your level; that's true.

Glad we finally figured out what you were talking about, lol ^_^

Sorry, but no sympathy about the money bit. Should've done the slow and steady thing of using herbalism to provide you with the necessary mats for the pots. Still don't understand why people would buy something that you can get for free if you just invest a little time in it...

Right now on my main I'm packing around 475 gold at lvl 51. Around 300 of that is from turning in herbs that sell well, to the AH for a nice profit.

Yes there are some recipes I can't create as well, given you have to be in your high 50's or 60 to be able to get them, geographically speaking. Doesn't suck though.

Major Healing potions = best heals for pots in the game, and easy to get

Superior Mana Potions = More than enough until I get the three scholo runs done to get the Major Mana Pot Recipe.

Patience is a virtue.

Incorrect. I have the recipe for Limited Invulnerability potion but it says I cannot learn until I'm level 45. The required Alchemy is only 250 so I'm way past that.

Well... if you CAN'T use the items, then why care if you can make em? And if you CAN use the items, why care if you can just buy them at the AH?

Heres my thoughts... go lvl up instead of comlpaining. There is plenty time to make potions when you hit lvl 45 or w/e lvl that the requirement was.

And also, lvling a profession "as fast as possible" doesn't sound too cost effective to begin with so whining about the loss of money is kinda dumb.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=3395 unless the recipe is bugged (which is extremely unlikely) yes, you can learn it before 45.

I think the OP needs to send a SS or contact a gm maybe?
