Wool in The Barrens?Follow

#1 Dec 01 2005 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
Is there a good place to fine wool in The Barrens or somewhere close to that area? I am a LVL 14 almost 15 and my Tailor skill is at 92 but I need wool to push it higher.

They made it that way for a reason, to stop you from going too far, too fast. Their is noplace in the barrens that a level 14 can eazly farm wool, but Was jsut their last night at level 16, and the harpies in the NW part of the zone dorped 4 pices for me, as you get to the 20's they will drop it more reliably.

What lvl are the harpies in that area? I do not have much trouble taking down lvl 17's at the moment.

It is not the single harpi that will give ya problems, it is the stealthed romers, the range form 14-18 only the 17-18 have droped wool for me, it is not your ablility to kill one that is my concern it is the aggro range you will have with them, even at 16 it can be hard to keep the fight to one at a time. Not impossible, just not worth the time when you can spend the time getting to 16-19 and then you can go south and get the mobs that drop it concesntatly, and are not clumped up like the harpies.

A better idea might be to gather up a ton of linen, sell it at the AH, and then buy wool. Granted, wool is like 4x as expensive as linen on my server, but I guarantee you'll get wool faster that way at your level.

That is close to what I have been doing. I have been seling my linen armor in the AH and making bank to buy the wool now im up to LVL 15 and Tailor at 101. I am lvling faster now and not spending much time on the Tailoring so I will be a lvl 20 soon.

On my server I can sometimes sell wool for nearly as much as 20 runecloth (about 2g per 20).

By the time you can gather wool yourself, you'll probably be starting to wear silk stuff.

I'd say buy it. I don't think there's that many things you can make with wool anyway.

Despite pandaface's post reading like a 14 year old wrote it, it is accurate. The Razormane, a little walk south of Camp Tuarajo, drop tons of Wool. These are they guys that drop the quest weapons for the quest Weapons of Choice. These weapons drop even if you do not have the quest, and can sell to the vendor for a fair price (for their level.)

Razormane's in that area range from levels 22 to 25. This has always been my favourite Horde grinding spot starting from 23 to 27ish.

Don't worry about Tailoring too much; silk is around the corner. Silk drops for nearly 20 levels. On my server, Twisting Nether, a newer RP/PvP realm, silk goes for 35s-65s per stack, and Wool sells for 1g 20s to 1g 75s per stack.

Silk also drops from the Scarlot Monistary like nobody's business. This is one of the most commonly farmed instances.
