Does this sound fishy?Follow

did i read that right? did she actually say that she was "too lazy to pick up a fishing pole" herself? IF that is the case then she is DEFINATELY taking advantage of you.

I don't have much patience with sitting for hours on end and casting till the wee hours of the morning but I certainly don'
t expect other ppl to do it FOR me. If i need it i will go get it or buy it. But it sounds like to me she would rather be raiding and have you fish for her and have you give her the fruits of your hard labor.

Now if she is making the items for the guild raid then sure, give her some to help out the guild, but I am certain you are not the ONLY person that can fish. It should be donated from all members.

If there is a problem, you can also just give her a certain amount of fish before a raid. Or better yet, as someone else already mentioned. Have SOMEONE else, even yourself be the guild herb mule, and on the day of a raid you turn over a set amount of ingredients to make a certain amount of potions of specified types. Or for that matter if you have certain potions you use on raids turn items over for those potions and have a potion mule. Temptation will corrupt an honest person, perhaps it is time to remove the temptation.

If he/she hit 60 without 300 herb he/she either dropped herb at 1 point to buy/sell on the AH for a smaller, faster profit (some alchemists do) or was too lazy to stop and pick the mageroyal she just trampled. You both are showing up before pull-time anyway so crafting 4-5 stonescale pots on-location isnt a big deal. Just let her know that this is your main source of income so you will give her enough eels to make potions on-site just to make sure that excess arent produced. Or send her the eels required to make potions for ONE raid then tell her that you will happily send her a portion of the eels required to replace the potions actually used in each raid and then stick to that portion (1/2 or 3/4 or 2/3...whatever you decide).
Also let her know that while you are the guild fisherman, you are NOT the only one who can fish. It is far too easy to build to use as an excuse, if you only fished 2-3 lures worth of time a day you could be catching eels by the end of the week (I raised mine to 225 in 2 or 3 days of medium/heavy fishing).

Tell the tanks to go fishing too. They use the vast majority of these eels anyway.

People act like it will kill them to fish on their own. No one should have to take this stuff from somebody. Fishing skill is available to everyone. I laugh my *** off everytime I make 20g for 20 stonescale eels in AH. Geez it only takes about 45 mins to an hour to catch that many.

Maybe your guild member is getting the fishies from you and putting them up on the AH herself - ever consider that possibility? Maybe you'd better check out the AH next time you give her some Oily Blackmouths![quote=wildsimian]It concerns something about the upcoming changes to fishing and my own guild's structure.

Yes .. it irks me that other people won't pick up a fishing pole.

The only one I've seen do it is a guild hunter, and the guild leader on his mage. He has no problem sending her eels because he has quite a few level 60's and no problem with money (other than people paying him back when he helps them buy a mount).

There are other alchemists in the guild now, and they are getting up there in skill. If they would like to stand by me and fish with me they'll get all of my eels, no questions asked.

It just sucks when you have one person wait all this time to get their skill up to help the guild with potions and such ... but did only a few things here and there to help others on the way up.

Unfortunately I realized this too late. But there are others who will help, and will appreciate the time and effort you put into helping as well.

I might have missed it in the thread but why not run an alt that just camps at the AH and have him/her do all your trades, that way no one knows your business (assuming that your alt is a quiet, out of the way, doesn't bother anyone character, lol). It will cost you the price of postage but gives you anonimity and convience in that whereever you are you can mail your goods and immediately put in the AH.

Yes, we mentioned that earlier. But I didn't want to "hide out" in the face of someone else's using me. If there was an altercation about me selling the items from my main, then she would have to address the issue. And I was prepared to "discuss" it civilly.

invite her to go fishing with you....

i rolled on kul tiras when it started and quicly formed a guild with some like-minded players. As i *actualy* enjoy fishing i supply two alchys with fishing mats. One of them was asking for stacks of firefins evey day, without fail. i invited him to go fishing with me and now he spends his own time getting what he needs. i do still occasionaly send him my excees fish but he has come to be self sufficant fairly quickly. it doesnt take that long to lvl fishing even when your char. lvl is low, and fishing with a buddy to chat with is better than fishing alone.

Well, in my guild we generally all help eachother. However, in our rules it states that we're not obligated to do so. If you want to make some gold from your efforts you're entitled to do so.

I would suggest going fishing with her as well, this way you're "teaching her how to fish" instead of feeding her for a day.

You could always stop fishing, do something else.

When pressed in guild why you would throw away the skill just say "I can't be bothered to spend the time on it and I was not using the fish anyway"

Yes, in a way, it is hurting yourself to make a point... think of it as cauterizing a wound.

PS~ the advice in the posts above this is quite sound.

Tell her to leave you alone, you aren't her ***** so she should stop treating you like it. I know you don't want to come off like an *******, but she's obviously using you. In a while, if she stops asking you for it give her a stack or whatever, just to make her feel a little better. If she asks you for more tell her to **** off :x

well, i used to play galaxies alot. I started playing WoW, and really, like it, but no one on my guild is on. But in galaxies, i had a patron who supported me whenever when i was a weaponsmith. Now, i did whatever i could for my patron, when i could. Now, i would just tell this person, that you need a source of income, and you will do what you can for the guild, if thats what you want to do. Im sure that if this person is not corrupted they will greatly appreciate it, and will even if they are. Try telling her this, i want to make an 'X'amount of money this gaming session, and, i will give you the surplus, or a tithe as someone else pointed out. Also, suggest to the GM that someone who can't really benefit from the herbs in this case shouldn't be the Herb Banker, as someone else pointed out as well. just my 2 cents.

Its a guild suck it up or ASK her for some random pots that you will use in return or leave your guild... those are your choices.
#40 Feb 06 2006 at 11:00 PM Rating: Decent
Sell them, and if she asksm ask her why she thinks you should always give her all your fish.
Or tell her you need to make money, as this is your main source of income.
Or teach her how to fish. If none of those works, bring it up with your GM.

Just what I think. One of those should work, hopefully. If not, she's probably just being greedy.

Hello all, This is just a helpful hint. My cousin and guildmate always has a good supply of fish. I asked him how he does it. His reply...my daughter wanted to "play the computer", (she is 3 years old) so i go to a safe or hidden water hole equip a pole and showed her how to fish. She loves it! She will sit there for an hour fishing watching Dora. Are there virtual child labor laws?
I read this thread when it just started and came back to read the last half. Thx for good post. lots of good ideas and opinions.

Our guild does all its item trades, crafting, and enchants in the bank, right after our guild meetings. We just pile into the bank, summon the bank alts (or have them there already), and start trading. Gives you a better idea of who wants what, and ups the feel good factor too (and makes low contributors feel guilty if they're not providing enough stuff Smiley: wink

Rand Rules! I remember reading Atlas Shrugged for the first time just as the .com bubble burst. I learned more from that book than AP Gov and Economics.
