Mining Question.Follow

#1 Jan 18 2006 at 5:37 PM Rating: Decent
I am at 191 mining and still cruising around Duskwood. Should I stay there or should I be trying to mine somewhere else? If I should stay in Duskwood, at what level should I leave and where should I go?

Thanks as always!

u should go in alterac mountain man. right before entering the alterac ruin's main entrance u turn right. there's a lot of iron and mithril and some truesilver, gold and silver. its a nice spot for mining i got like 50 mining skill right there and i'm still working on it. the only downside is that theres a lot of lvl 34-36 ogre. u just run around and get lvl and ores.

maybe u'll c me there :P

It really depends on your character level. You're probably about maxed out on what you can get for mining on iron, it's time to look for mithril. The Badlands is good, but the mobs are all in the 30+ range. Charred Vale in Stonetalon and Thousand Needles also have a few mithril spawns, slightly lower mob levels.

The mobs in the badlands are more around the lvls of 40 and up. But yah there is alot of good mining.

This is a fairly old thread at this point, but I just want to add that I have gone from 185 to 238 mining and now have stockpiled about 20 stacks of mithril bars just doing laps in Charred Vale in Stonetalon Mountains. Mithril, occasionally iron, and even more occasionally Truesilver can all be found along the edges of the valley. You can usually lap the circle in about 3-4 minutes depending on how much ore you find or if you happen to catch aggro. It's very easy to run around there too because the highest level mobs are level 28. There's also 2 elites and one rare to kill off for pocket money.

I spent probably a total of 8 hours farming ore there and have a stack and a half of truesilver, 20 stacks of mithril, 9 or 10 stacks of iron, a stack of gold, plus the stones and miscellaneous gems that pop up. All these stacks are stacks of bars, btw.

Well anorexic if you take 20 gold bars 2 star rubies and 2 bars of truesilver (I think this is correct) down into Blackrock Depths there is a guy who will trade those mats for the ability to smelt dark iron ore. But you can only smelt at the Dark Forge and you can only make Dark Iron items at the Black Anvil.

I'm assuming that the 'Dark Forge' and the 'Black Anvil are also in BRD?

Would it be near to that ghost dwarf people talk about?

...I hope he's easy to find

Another thread says 10Truesilver/20Gold/2Star Rubies...I'm taking that anyway if I ever get to go!

You have to go through the "ghost dwarf people" to get to the black forge. One of them is Gloom'rel - if you talk to him and have the right stuff (10Truesilver/20Gold/2Star Rubies) apparently he will teach you how to smelt the dark iron ore. The black forge is very shortly after you leave their room headed for the molten core - a small path off to the left into the lava stream guarded by an elemental just before you reach the last bridge.

The Black Anvil is closer to the middle of the instance, but if you ever see a map of the instance it is very easy to find. A boss named Incendius guards it, it is on a small platform in the middle of a round lava pool surrounded by balconies. *note* be sure to pull Incendius into one of the hallways - he will kick you back as you fight him, and dropping into the lava pool isn't very useful.
