I have a 28 troll hunter with skinning/leatherworking right now. I've been reading a good deal about the leatherworking skill and it's looking like it will be totally useless for me very soon since there isn't a hunter-oriented spec for it. I wanted, therefore, to switch my lw skill to another gathering skill just to net profit. Since I am a hunter, taking up herbalism or mining would require me to track something other than humanoid/beast, and that's a detriment as far as I'm concerned. Thus I'm lead towards enchanting, but as a gathering skill. How does enchanting work to gather? I know that I find items, disenchant them, and sell the mats on AH, but can I actually level the skill by doing that? Do I have to simultaneously invest some money into the skill in order for it to make me any money? Am I likely to make more money selling the essences and such than I would by just hocking the item itself? If anyone has done this, I could use their experiential wisdom.
Thanks.
