I'm sure this has been said, but i think there should be a fletching proffesion. The engineering proffesion you can make guns and bullets,so why not bows and arrows.
could be a main proffesion or a hunter only skill like rogues have with poisons.

Interesting idea, but there have to be more recipes than bows and arrows. I can't really think of enough recipes to fill up a 375 skill fletching profession. There is a lot more to engineering than guns and bullets too. You should check out the the lumbering/woodworking thread in the forum, pretty much the same idea that has been going around for a while.

A Fletching proffesion would be nice but it would be hard to recipes as the shaman said. I could think of a few but not enough to get to 375. You could make different kinds of bows and arrows but where would you get some of the supplies lke th string. it would be cool but it is to hard to have enough recipes.

EQ has a Fletching profession.

If I remember right, there were many types of Bow, Arrows, even Staffs you could make. It was kind of a general woodworking skill.

Edit: Found it - EQ Fletching

btw, I agree. Engineering already has the ability to make guns and their ammo. Seems only fair that Bows should be able to be made as well.

As for Bow String Mats.....Spider silk, intestines, lots of choices out there.

The first thing that they could make is the obvious - Bows/Crossbows and arrows.

The next I would take as making Staves, Off-Hand items, Holy Symbols, and Shields (in looking at Blacksmithing - there was none)

Another potential recipie could be "Dowsing Rods" - trinkets that could give you a limited tracking for minerals, treasure, or other things.

Engineers can keep their claim to scopes that add damage. Perhaps the woodworkers can make items that do other things - like increase range or attack speed.

Now to add variations to fill out the recipies...

You would have crossbow and bow recipies. As you progress higher, you have more options of bows - some will have stats, others can have proc's

Arrows, could have different types - for example, maybe a recipie calls for frost oil to make Frost Arrows that either turn the damage done to cold damage, add cold damage, or cause a chill effect. Poison Arrows, Explosive Arrows, Root arrows, etc....just making variations on the arrows could add alot of recipies.

Staves can be designed for the different classes, adding variations too.

Woodworks sounds promising: you can make trinkets and other gadgets.

Carve figurines and all that.

Hmmm....maybe even some totems for Shamans and Druids perhaps?

I would be elated if Hunters had Fletching as a class only skill, like Rogue Poisons. No need to really worry about how many recipes there are, Rogues only have about 4 recipes that just get upgraded every 6+ lvls or so on a rotation. just add the different arrow types every 5-10 lvls like they do at NPCs now anyway and then add books and stuff as drops to give green, rare and epic arrows at later lvls.

Totems/relics would be wonderful...it's frustrating to me that there are so few of them, and you really don't get anything to fill the slot until much later in the game.

Could also make boxes...gift boxes, or something, just as a novelty...enchanters can make a few wands, but not very mnay..don't know if woodworkers should be able to make a few of those as well.

I had a rather large post about a "naturecraft" skill somewhere in these forums...a few times if I remember right. It's burried somewhere deep in the tradeskills section and I honestly am to tired to dig it up right now :P You can find it if your interested though.
