Help for an enchanterFollow

#1 Jul 10 2007 at 9:55 AM Rating: Good
Hi. Im a level 325 enchanter. I have gotten to this point by purely DEing and enchanting crap gear over and over with my matts(and occationally enchanting for friends). Im to the point(past it really) to where I will have to start sending out /trade messages to get work. My question here is, how should I set up my macro to promote myself to get work. Also, what mods would help me better my profession in both boardcasting my "service" and plainly make enchanting go more smoothly.

Thank you very much.

First off, I feel your pain.

I would recommend making your Enchanting skills available to your guild members and their alts. That was a great way for me to skill up.

But in answer to your question, Use the Mod: EnchantList.

This is an awesome Mod that lets people whisper you and they receive a List of your Enchantments you have available for a specific slot.

(i.e. "\w NAME !enchant boot" or "\w NAME !enchant weapon"

The list or enchantments they receive back is clickable by them so they can see what the mats are and what it will do.

I personally cannot stand it when any crafter clogs up the Trade channel with a huge list of items/services they can provide. It's just spam. By doing it this was anyone who needs your services can see what you have to offer and contact you directly.

Try something like this:

325 Enchanter LFW! Send a Whisper with !enchant <slot> to see available enchantments. Contact me with any questions.

short sweet and to the point.
Hope this helps.

That sounds exactly what I will need for to promote my service and get me a little work. I too hate the huge list of enchants that take like 3-4 full messages in /trade. I refused to be one of those people, that and I was too lazy to actually make one out. Thanks, as soon as I get off work and get back from working out I will get this mod. Thanks.

Are there any other mods that might make enchating eaiser? Another question I have is about pricing. With the cost of recipes(even the old 300 recipes are still expensive) and Rods, it is kinda expensive to be an enchanter. I was thinking of just making it "FREE WITH YOUR MATTS" to get more work. Or should I charge I small fee for everyone or a certain amount for certain enchants?

I would go with the 'free with your mats -- tips accepted!'

I use Auctioneer to base my price for Mats.

But I would really advise you NOT to advertise that.
There seems to be a real disconnect with players in regards to the cost of Mats.
It seems that 95% of the players our there think Mats are Free or should be.

Personally, (unless it's for a friend or a guildie) I never provide mats. All of my enchantments are with the Mats provided by the customer, period. I then state a tip would be appreciated.....Except for a few of the harder to get higher level ones such as Savagery. I charge 20g for that particular enchantment and it is not negotiable. Since I am 375, I'm not after a skill up, so they can either take it or leave it.

This may sound Harsh but before (it seems so long ago) I used to actually try and help players get their enchantments by providing Mats and got beaten up so regularly on pricing that I finally said "***** it, I'm not dealing with this anymore."

So in a nutshell, if you're going to provide Mats for your enchantments be prepared to get crap over it, even if you price your mats lower than whats available in the AH. Stick with the tip method and work tose skillups.

I have a little problem with the Enchantlist mod. It seems when ever anyone sends me a whisper, they get eList>Nothing. Its probably a user problem on my end. I cant seem to find a read other than the description on the site.

You can test the Mod by sending yourself a whisper. That way you can ensure your Macro to your potential clients is correct.

That's what I did.

Sell your mats at market price. DO NOT PROVIDE THEM TO YOUR CUSTOMERS, EVER! If they can't afford the mats, then they can't afford the enchant. Offer the enchant for free - chances are good that they will have bought your mats, and that's where you will make the profit, not on the enchants themselves.

Be sure to use an Alt when selling those Mats though. I never sell any of my Enchanting Mats under my Enchanter's toon. As stated above they will be buying the mats usually and if they see that you are selling them they will start whining and ask you to take them down from the AH and sell them to them cheaper.

WOW, you all have been a HUGE help. My enchanting has been at a standstill for quite some time. But, thanks to yall I got many jobs last night, unfortunately most were low skill level and I didnt get any skill ups but it was just the first night. I figured out why people were getting the error, many were typing for example !enchant <boot> instead of !enchant boot. I may have to twick your suggested /trade message I was using, BiteMe. All the info you all have given are making getting 375 skill easier.

My enchanter already is an alt. There's no way I'm going to create an alt for an alt just to sell mats. What I will do is to tell them to buy the mats from someone else, if it bothers them (not bloody likely, since I don't gouge). If they continue to whine, I put them on my ignore list.

lol, I don't suffer from Alt-itous so I use the Alt method for sales. Actually I thik i still have room for 4 more toons. Smiley: lol

Glad we could help you out Surfriderr.
