I could have sworn there was a guide or post that gave recommendations of where to go to skill up quicker for fishing. I am 75 and after 10 succesful catches in Darkshore I got no points, so I need to go to another zone, just I don't know where. And I thought there was a guide that would give you a heads up.

hmm seems I needed to train. But still where is that that guide or guideline that did that, I can't remember for the life of me where it's at. I think it was like a quick lvling on, don't care about making profit till I got till outlands just want to get it up quick.

You could try the FAQ...
Quote:
Q. Where is the best place to raise my skill with fishing?

A. It is a common misconception that you need to move areas to raise up your fishing skill. The truth, whether good or bad, is that your skill rises at the same rate anywhere; and that rate goes by the number of successful catches you make, not by the level of fish you catch!

Why stay in elewyn and get skill up every 3 or 4 succesful catches, when I could go to darkshore and ever succesful catch is a skillup? That's why I am asking.

You get skill up every 3 or 4 (later on 10-12) succesful catches no matter where you fish. If you fish in zones that require higher level fishing skill you just have to spend on lures.
Higher level fishing zones dont mean getting skill faster, on the contrary, more fish you loose less skill you get.

Raising fishing depends only on how many fish you catch and not one bit on where you catch it.

Sethy is correct. You can level fishing to 375 in Elwynn Forest if you want to.
I recall 12-14 successful catches to get a skill-up point from 360-375.

The chances of increasing skill are the same. It relies on catches, not location or type of fish. The only reason to go to Darkshore to skill up is because there are two fishing quests there (The Family and the Fishing Pole and Electropellers), which can also give you XP, a +3 fishing pole, and 20 +100 lures.

Did you even upgrade your fishing skill in the first place?

Fishing is just like any other gathering skill-If you do not return to a trainer and increase your skill cap then you will not get a skill point even after a thousand successful catches in a row.

Hmm, I didn't know about the Electropellers quest. I'll pick that up sometime, thanks for the info.

Is it +100 lures? Alla says +50.

In theory, you can skill all the way to the max in the pond in Ogrimmar. Not is one straight sitting, however.

Your skillups rate depends on your fishing level and how many fish you are actually catching. From Wowwiki:

100 2
115 3
140 4
165 5
190 6
215 7
240 8
265 9
290 10
300+ 10-11

These are approximations.

Don't forget to press "k" to see what your skill levels are in everything. When you've maxed (for example 100/100) you will not get any more skillups until you train. At around level 150 or so (I forget which) the normal fishing trainers won't help you much and you have to find a guy in Dustwallow and do a quest for him.
