Two sentences at odds with each other. Are your gatherers making money, or are they wasting it by feeding your crafting?
They're making money. I was thinking at first to use my miner to get the mats for engineering, but the mining level is no where near the level it needs to be for the mats I would need for engineering.

point 1: Unless you are a high enough level and have enough mats to level a crafting profession to a very high level, you will lose gold. Even then, crafting professions are mainly to make stuff for your own toons
I'm up to 60. This is why I took up Enchanting at the beginning, because I wanted to be able to enchant my own things. (This was, of course, before I joined a guild... even so there are only two of us and our enchanting levels are only *maybe* 5-10 levels apart)

point 2: Having two or more toons in the same gathering profession does not (I repeat not) create a toon that's in competition with your other gatherers. YOU CANNOT TAKE THEM BOTH OUT AT THE SAME TIME. Even if you hit the same nodes that another of your toons has picked, you will have given them time to re-spawn. I have never had two skinners skin the same body
None of my toons have 'duplicate' professions.

point 3: "(skinning, miner, herb)" are not the only gathering professions that make gold. There are also (dis)enchanting and fishing. Additionally, there is cloth farming, which is useful for first aid and totally wasted on tailoring.
I've been selling the stuff I do disenchant and have been doing quite well with the AH and making money with the stuff. And it's a good point you made there, because a lot of people (myself included) don't think of the other professions like fishing and cloth farming.
Thanks a lot for that too. Now that I've gotten my first aid up to almost 375, I'd have no use for the linen, or silk cloths.
