So from thottbot I found that the only place you can really farm this is in terrokar....with a drop rate of just 11.5%! I'm really hoping that someone can tell me a better place to farm netherweb since I need close to 2 stacks for my tailoring and leatherworking and don't really want to pay close to 10g for 2 on my server.
Hmm.. is that so bad?
There are huge numbers of the spiders in the zone just outside Shattrath and down on the undead plains near Auchindon to the south so farming 2 stacks shouldn't take you so long?
You also get to gather any hearts (for aldor rep) and random drops etc. too.. bonus ;)

Never found anywhere with better drop rates than those spiders - sorry :(

Those spiders are what drops it, really, that drop rate isn't half as bad as some other items that require farming.
I'm afraid the droprate is nearer 5 percent for the Netherweb Silk...
The drop rate is low. I spent eight hours farming those in order to obtain 40 netherweb silks for my tailoring needs. I also achieved enough experience to gain an entire level.
Sadly there is no better area to farm these. I do them south-east of Shattrath where the mobs are wrapped in the spider silk (kinda by skettis). Unless you are going to buy them on the ah, be prepared to put in the time.
It's really not *that* bad. Start farming by the alliance city to the northeast of Auch and work your way down to where the mobs are wrapped in web. There are even a few quests that you can do while you farm. I preferred to just go farm a few whenever I got mats for my next Imbued item and didn't sweat getting all that I'd ever need. Sic your VW on a few and SoCor to watch the cascade of falling spiders.
Kill the Dreadfang Widows, not the lurkers. When I was doing the quest to kill the 20 widows, I got 6 silks off of them in the 15 minutes it took to kill them.
Later on, after hittin 70, a guildy needed some to level her tailoring and was getting frustrated at the low drop rate. Well, she was killing the lurkers. So I invited her to group, we headed over to just outside of Allerian Stronghold and started working our way south. Got her a stack in about 30 minutes tops with two of us. So try over on the Eastern side and make sure you are killing the widows and not lurkers.

I guess Im extremely unlucky with mote drop rate (I seriously once killed 47 water ele's at plateau without one mote dropping, and its usually like that, bad bad luck) but real lucky with silk then, because I got all the silk I needed for FSW set in about 20 minutes of farming the spiders, usually 2/3 kills would drop silk, and out of 5 drops, 2 of them would be double.

Best place I found to farm these is just south of the Allerian Stronghold. There's usually a ton of spiders there and (at least on my server) not a tremendous amount of competition. Once your bags are full with the other trash the spiders drop, you can simply pop over to the stronghold, sell the stuff, and resume farming. Shouldn't take you that long to get what you need.
I would just figure out which is faster: farming the silk, or grinding the gold to buy the silk. I can easily yank 100g out of dailies in an hour or two, but if dailies aren't an option you might want to look into what you normally do for gold and see if you can earn it faster than you can get the same value of silk to drop.

I'm a 371 tailor and I've farmed the spider silk many a time, sometimes the drops are insanely good, much better than 11 percent, but other times it can be much more grueling to amass much spider silk. I once got 12 in only a half hour. I have heard that you can pick some up in Kara, but I have yet to run it to find out for myself. If the drops are crappy, at least you can sell the venom sacks on AH for a decent amount.
I found that you can get some out of the Black Morass....there are plenty of non-elite spiders to kill there and they drop the spider silk. Plus, you dont have to compete with others for the kill...just don't step on the island with Medivh!
if you don't like the drop rate, farm mobs that give you items worth more gold-per-hour and then just buy the netherweb spider silk from the AH.
