Profession Picking helpFollow

Hey guys,

So I have a little bit of a problem regarding professions and making money. I'll just start with a short summary of my character:

This is my main BTW, my highest lvl character.

29 BE Pally-Deathwing
Enchanting-150
Skinning-70

Money-19g... yay... (from a really lucky sale of magicians mantle for 20g)

Anyways, im having ALOT of trouble making money with these professions. I try to sell enchants but nobody wants them because they are low lvl, and everybody gets new gear really quickly. I had Jewel crafting as a profession (lvl 100 or something around there) but dropped it because it was getting to expensive, even though it was better at making money than enchanting by far. I really, really need some advice or help on how to make money, what professions to get instead of Skinning, etc.

Thanks for your help. The game would be so much more enjoyable if I had some money kicking around.

For enchanting, you're not going to make much money selling low level enchants. The money is in disenchanting. The strategy is buying up green items, disenchanting them, and selling the materials. The trick is to find items that are being sold for less than what the materials disenchant for. Your best bet there is to get an Auction mod, I would suggest Auctioneer and Enchantrix, and start scanning. Once you get an idea of the prices on your server you can figure out what items are worth it, Enchantrix will even do this automatically. Here is a guide to making money with disenchanting.

As far as skinning, make sure your skinning level is high enough that you can skin everything you kill. 70 seems low for ~30 mobs but I'd have to check. It's pretty easy to level up and you can sell all the leather you get on the AH.

What would be a profesion besides skinning that will still benefit myself? and do you have a link to where I can find enchantrix?

Thanks.

You are already enchanting 150.

Learn to disenchant cheap greans from the ah using auctioneer and enchantrix. There are plenty of threads in the tradeskills forums discussing this.

After you have a little cash from it, use some of the mats you produce to level your enchanting more. At level 35 you can take your enchanting all the way to level 275, where you will be able to disenchant level 70 blues.

If I was in your place, starting where you are right now, I'm sure I could have 1000g from it by the time I hit 40.

The auctioneer suite at http://www.auctioneeraddon.com/ has enchantrix and everything else you need in it. I use the clasic suite, but other people use the advanced. You can try either one.

Thanks. I tried downloading the Auctioneer and its not working. My computer is an imac, so not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Ok got auctioneer working. It seems to be helpful, but I can't really trust the information... nor use it properly lol... Can anybody tell me how to use it and if the information that it gives you is actually correct?

Thanks.

I think that the threads that were linked to you should be more than enough help with how to use auctioneer/enchantrix.

You will want to do scans every day or so for at least a week to get numbers that you can begin to trust. Going on one scan is only seeing the current market broken down.

Ahhh, ok, so the more scans you do, the more recent and averaged information the numbers.

There is the crux of your problem. Stop trying to sell enchants. Sell mats instead.

If you level your skinning, you can make money from that. Many people pair enchanting with tailoring, so you can make stuff with tailoring pretty cheaply to disenchant. But as a paladin, you wouldn't be able to wear any of the high level cloth items you could make, so tailoring would be a bit of a waste.

Don't forget that as you level, you can solo lower level instances for greens and blues to disenchant.

I wish I had enchanting on my Pally, at lvl 70 prot spec you can clear old world instances real fast with an AoE grind as well as the large shards that drop from the BoP stuff from the bosses.

I would shift to minning for the other trade skill.
