Blizz has stated they discoveries arent meant to be common and that trying to frm them would be near useless [though possible in large amounts and with luck]

Basicly you need to turn into an elixer creating machine each day to get discoveries.

I dinged a transmute discovery while making someone a primal might. It was nice. [earth to life - very profitable considering life is so needed [ min 12-14g]and earth [max 2.5g] so cheap on my server].

I hardly ever transmute, in the last 3 months ive done it like 5 times. and boom i get a discovery helping someone making a might.

Its like transmute mastery dings. BUt much much worse.

I had several discoveries quite quickly after TBC came out but haven't had one now in literally months, unless you count cauldrons which are easy to discover - usually you just have to make one of the relevant major protection potion in order to discover the cauldron. I make at least 20 elixirs on a daily basis and am getting a bit pissed off with no discoveries! (Proc rate still seems to be ok, though. I rarely go without a proc in 5 elixirs).

I don't know what Blizz did to the % rate of discoveries but I have a feeling it's waaaay lower than it used to be in all masteries, sadly.

I suggest you grab some sporgor rep to get the Earth to Water Xmute.
i was doing Earth to Water Xmutes and discovered the Earth to Life one as well....on my server (your milage will vary) Earth--about 2-4g each, Life--about 10-14g each and water about 16-22g each.

on my server its very profitible to buy a stack of 20 P-earths for 50-70g, and once a day xmute to water. in 3-5 xmutes you have made your money back, and then you have 15+ more xmutes of pure water selling profit.

i have had random luck with discoveies....while just leveling to my skill to 375, i got the major rejuv one...while making my self some agility elixirs i got flask of relentless assault...and a flask of pure death doing somethign else i cant remember.
while Xmuting (i xmute daily earth to water) i have had several discoveries...earth to llife, mana to fire, and maybe another 1 or 2 i never use.
i dont craft many flasks/pots, so no cauldren discoveries yet.
