Well I'm around 160 ATM and was just wondering what the best place to mine normal iron was?
Mapwow.com is your friend. You can select ores, herbs, etc. to show on the map. Very useful.
Alliance? Horde? Level? All of these will help get you a good answer :)
For example, I'd recommend STV since you can also get the occasional mithril, but if you're running around at level 20 you're going to get rocked.

Badlands seems to be roughly 50/50 Iron/Mithril. If you want to farm Iron, I would recommend Arathi.
Arathi. Keep an eye open for the caves where ogres live. Iron o plenty.
I was in Arathi this morning for 45 mins.
60 iron ore
10 Gold Ore
8 Silver Ore
15 Tin Ore
6 Truesilver Ore
bunch of Gems
I have epic land mount, so it was faster. I went into all caves (will take longer for lower level folks).
I was in Badlands yesterday morning for 45 mins
40 iron ore
40 mithril ore
6 gold ore
2 silver ore
bunch of Gems
So both places are good. Just depends as to what you are looking for.
