Soul Dust?!Follow

Why is it that a lot of my disenchants yield soul dust, when (at least for me)can not use it to enchant anything, not even a lvl 1 recipe requires this item.

So do enchanters need soul dust, and if so, for what? is it a result of disenchanting a very low lvl item? And is there a way to find out what an item will yield once disenchanted?

Get enchantrix (as a part of auctioneer) it will show you what the item will disenchant into before you do it. Soul dust is used in 15 different enchanting recipes, maybe you don't have them yet? They're all 140-170ish enchanting.

It almost sounds like you're under the impression that Soul Dust is the "lowest level" of enchanting dust. As Dilbrt mentioned, it's used in several recipes. Nothing that "blows the socks off" but still..

Level 1 recipes, since you mentioned it, would require the "Lowest level" enchanting dust... Strange Dust, so it's not unusual at all that they don't require Soul Dust.

Here is a list of what items disenchant into what.

Here you will find a list of all enchantments and their ingredients.

Now that you have the information, perhaps you might be able to find some spare neurons to try and correlate the data instead of asking stupid questions.

(generally) armor between level 20-30 will give soul dust when disenchanted, above that is vision, then dream, illusion, then arcane dust.

Essences (normally from weapons):

Magic, Astral, Mystic, Nether, Eternal, Planar (I believe is the order) you can generally break them down into their own areas of 10 levels.

I don't think it was a stupid question, why be so harsh?

I don't think it was a terribly stupid question either, but if I had to guess, it's because of the incredible attitude that lies behind it. "I've never experienced XYZ in the game therefore I don't believe it exists" is foolish for anyone to express, but even more so for a lowbie like the OP.

Alternatively, basic netiquette suggests that you do a modicum of research before starting a thread on a discussion board. If you're too lazy to google the phrase "soul dust" then why should anyone write a >2 word reply to your question?

There's a tremendous wealth of information in the left column of your screen right now. Everything you want to know about the basic workings of trade skills, spells, talents, is there and arranged in an easy-to-understand format. At the very least, if you come across an unfamiliar item, all you ever need to do is enter it into the Search field and click "Enter" and it'll tell you where the item comes from and what it's used in.

well being nice and giving information gets old after doing it everyday for months and months. Even a year. [..'s?]

So its time to randomize it. Give the info, add a few links and sprinkle it with menace.

Let's analize his original post:

1) Why is it that a lot of my disenchants yield soul dust

If he had looked up what disenchants into what (a simple google search), he's know. As it is, I gave hin a link of where to find the info.

2) when (at least for me)can not use it to enchant anything, not even a lvl 1 recipe requires this item.

...and he followed up his question with errenous information.

3) So do enchanters need soul dust, and if so, for what?

a lookup so simple that you don't even need to use Google. All that's needed is to scroll down the left menu.

4) is it a result of disenchanting a very low lvl item? And is there a way to find out what an item will yield once disenchanted?

A rephrasing of the original question.

Basically, the OP is too dumb or lazy to perform a web search. This is compounded by an attitude that tries to say that because he doesn't have any recipies that use Soul Dust, then it must be useless.
