I logged in this morning, got patch 2.3.2, and immediately did an alchemy transmute mithril to truesilver. Afterwards, the cooldown showing was 22 hours, not the usual 1 day 22 hours! This is great, an undocumented patch change?
(Could have said 23 hours, I can't remember exactly.)

Posted: Jan 09 2008 at 10:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i think ever since the release of the Expac the 48hour cool downs for acranite and all others 48hour xmutes were reduced to 24. dont think it had anything to do with the last patch. i could be wrong here though becuase i would NEVER waste a xmute cool down on a worthless mithril to truesilver xmute.

Well, did it ever occur to you that maybe the only transmutes I have at my skill level are iron to gold, mithril to truesilver, and arcanite? And for your info, mithril to truesilver was DEFINTELY 1 day 22 hours as of this past weekend.
Dude, Just answer his question. Maybe, He is trying to leveling his alchemy and mithril is what he has on hand.
As far as I remember I've always, well after the xpansion came out, only had like a 22 or 23 hour cooldown on my transmutes. And to add to the OP, your better money maker if you can do it is the thorium to arcanite transmute since pally's need, if I remember right, 6 bars for their epic mount quest. Plus arcanite always sells for right around 15-20g on my server and the mats are only about 5g for a stack of thorium and maybe 7g for a stack of the arcane crystals that I can't think of the proper name for suddenly

Well, arcane crystals go for 7g EACH on my server, not per stack.

Watch them closely. On my server they will sell for as low as 2.25g each, and as high as 9g each. The Arcanite Bars sell for up to 12g each.
I don't do this transmute any longer as I can now do Primal Might and Earthstorm Diamond, but I did do quite a bit of it, back when. I always check the AH as soon as I log on and two of my regular searches at that time were for the Arcane Crystal and Thorium Bar.
Whenever the crystals sold for 2.5g or below I would buy up all listed at that price, and would not buy if they sold for more than 7.5g as I could not guarantee I would get the 12g for the Arcanite Bars. Also, buying as many as I could at the lower price meant I would always have the transmute on cooldown even when the crystals were high priced.
Doing it this way gave me around 5g on my Arcanite Bar profit, as I rarely priced them at the highest price on the AH. That's just my philosophy, and my Arcanite Bars always sold. 5g a day at the time, before I had a flying mount and could do dailies, was a nice addition to my other financial "ventures" and allowed me to purchase my training and flying mount within minutes of hitting L70 (I dinged in Shadowmoon Valley, which is where you buy the mount).

At your skill level, like the other responces...you still have the Arcanite Xmute...which otherwise cannot be made in any oter way (like mining a truesilver deposit)
Xmuting is a Very innefficent way to level at any level...it sure can give you some skill ups...but, when my second toon power leveled Alc...it took me 200gold and 2 hours of running around to go from 0 to 300 skill level....so yea, big whoop...1 skill up saved out of 300
You have Arcanite availableat your current level. even if you have to buy 1 thorium at 1 gold..and 1 crystal at 10 gold....then can sell the xmuted arcanite bar for 12gold.... -1+-10=-11 in mats, sold for 12...1 gold profit.....that profit and that cool down just earned you more then anyone on any server would ever pay for 1 bar of truesilver.

As I recall, the change was actually documented in the patchnotes.
Yeah, its now a 23 hour cool-down. That change was a patch or two ago. It's allowing me to level my alchemy on an alt quicker than my first alchemist.
