How much would it cost to power level jewel crafting on a char currently lvl 70 pally? Have 375 miner/tailor on my mage, but want a JC just for prospecting and no useful profession on pally.
Any ballpark would be useful, thx.

If you didn't farm anything and bought it all on the AH? Probably 3-4k to get to 300, and probably another 2-5k to get to 375. And then you wouldn't have any rare cuts or metas. I know I've spent probably close to 10k on rare/meta designs alone. Can you do it? Sure, but you'd need a heck of a lot of gold.

10 thousand gold? isnt that... a lot?

Like way beyond any imaginable price I would pay for a proff.

Unless 10k means something different than what I thought.

Well I didn't buy it all in one day lol. I took probably 4-6 months to get every single JC cut. I'd farm up 200-500g or something, nothing too hard, heck I made 100g in an hour just doing hellfire quests when I was level 61. Anyway, I'd save up in small amounts and buy 1 cut. Then I'd save up and buy another cut. Some cuts cost me over 600g. I actually think i spent closer to 850g for my very last one, but that was because it was a new cut that had just been released and it was the only one I needed to complete my set. Then I turned that around and made my epic flight money in nearly no time at all.

did you get both the scryer and aldor cuts? i'm not sure what to do in order to get both factions' recipes. i play a 63 draenei mage... i want the healing & tanking cuts for my alt & friends, plus all the caster spell / crit ones for myself.

how do you recommend get recipes from both aldor & scryer?

OP: if you want JC just for prospecting, don't you only need skill of 20?

Edit: found another post with this:
Prospecting Req.
Adamantite Ore - 325 Skill
Fel Iron Ore - 275 Skill
Thorium Ore - 250 Skill
Mithril Ore - 175 Skill
Iron Ore - 125 Skill
Tin Ore - 50 Skill
Copper Ore - 1 Skill

I'm aldor, but I have the runed cut from scryer by way of taking advantage of a game mechanic. Blood Elves start off friendly with scryer just by definition, but you are able to choose whichever faction you want. So I went to the scryer vendor, purchesed the runed recipe (which required friendly) and then went and picked aldor. I am missing 1 cut from scryer that noone wants, and the nature resist neck which I've only been asked once for (SSC resist gear). How do you get both? Well you'd have to get rep up with one, then do the repeatable to change your faction. That requires a TON of farming though, and I have yet to want to do that. Unless you're a mega-farmer then you need to pick one. The green gems aren't THAT important anyway, the rare (blue) cuts are the important stuff.

Ok, I power leveled it, took roughly 600g with no farming of mats to get to 325 (my mage is 375 miner so I had plenty of green gems from fel iron and adamantite). Hope this is useful to others.

Thanks. It is helpful. I was thinking of powerlevelling JC too for my rogue, so the approximation on how much it'd cost helps.
