where can i pick up this skill i'm near the starting area in starbreeze village (i think its called)
If you are a Night Elf, you have to wait until you can get to Auberdine (Take the boat from Ruth'eran Village). There is no ore in Teldrassil to be mined.

ah ok what lvl area is that?
Around level 11-early 20s, if I remember correctly.
Also, to find trainers for professions, click on the link to the left called List of Trainers Under the Trade Skills tab(http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=361).

Didn’t the patch before last put all the trainer types in each of the capital cities? I’ve not checked it out, but I seem to remember reading that in the patch notes.
Not sure about that part, I know each trainer can level you from 1-300, then you need to go to Outlands. Also added tracking for each NPC type, so you click on Profession trainer to get the yellow dot for any you are close to, which is nice at times.

I think what the patch did was this: If there's already trainers of that type in the city, you can now learn up to 300 there. If there wasn't already trainers of that type (such as mining in Darnassus), you still can't learn it there.
