There is always Mining with (dis)enchanting. Shard all the greens you pick up, and then play the AH game.

However to DE everything in the game you have to actually level enchanting.

Mining/herbalism can be a little trickier than Mining/Skinning. You won't be tracking minerals and herbs at the same time, so they interfere with eachother.

The usual gathering pairs are Mining/Skinning or Herbalism/Skinning.

Of course, you can always throw enchanting in there but you will have to invest pretty large ammounts of money through the course of levelling to keep enchanting up to date with the items you get to disenchant. In that respect, Tailoring/Enchanting can be considered a gathering group as well, but then you'll have to ALSO invest in tailoring to keep the items that you're making at a level where they provide new materials.

If Mining/Skinning is working for you... go for it. There's money to be made with all of the gathering professions.

#1 Mining

After that, it's really what you like. Skinning vs Herbalism vs DE... I guess you could make a lot with any of them if you worked at it.

I'm 200+ in Fishing. It's a mindless task, but all harvesting is mindless. Oily Blackmouth and Firefin sell well. If you think about it - the only difference between mining/herbalism and fishing is that you run from place to place before mindlessly clicking a key. You can catch Oily's just outside of the first "Contested" zones. Very easy. Oily sell for 1-3g and fires sell for a few more...

I have found that targeting lower lvl Mats like Clam, Zesty Clam, Cloths, Pearls, and certain meats are easy sells.

It's been up and down form me, but I've seen Clam meat go as high as 5g and lucky pearl drops as high as 8-10g. Easy drops from murlocs.

I think you need to come clear about one issue. Are you looking for money maker for leveling or for end game? Because if you buy stuff from AH to skill up then it's not really much of a money maker is it? (Unless it's green for DE and really low price)

Mining goes from very low lvl if you wanna make some money to ease up your way through the game. But if you are miner/BS, then you propably are using those ores to skill up your BS.

Disenchanting is really not so good money maker in beginning. Sure you can DE all items you get from quests and drops (if not usable for your class) but you will be using almost all for leveling your skill higher. Do you really wanna stay in AH and check those prices all over again if there might be one or two cheap items to DE. Most likely it'll be more fun to get a group from your guild and make few fast instance runs.

Tailoring sure goes nicely cos you can DE those that you tailor. But Enchanting really isn't easyest or the most fun way to make money in beginning. I suggest that you don't just think about the money and profit but leveling your char while your just having fun in that macig forrest =)

I hope you have some enchanter in your guild so that you can ask him/her to DE some drops you would otherwise just hand over to vendor.

It depends on the server, its economy, what faction you are, and total population. If you are on a mature server, where a lot of people are leveling alts (and power-leveling their professions), Disenchanting from the AH can be very lucrative. I seldom find less than 50 low-level items on one server (Alliance), 25 on another (Horde), and very few on a third (New low-pop server). I know that if I run (or even solo) an instance on either of the first two realms, I won't get as much from DEing as I would from farming the AH. On the third server, I'll have to wait for the economy to mature a bit before I can do so. Perhaps you should learn about the differences in economy on different servers before coming out with absolute proclamations like "Disenchanting is really not so good money maker in beginning" or "there might be one or two cheap items to DE".

...and that's why I downrated you.

Tend to agree: Even with good addons as Auctioneer and Enchantrix (and after the long road to gain sufficient level in enchanting to actually be able to disenchant all) I find scanning the AH for moneymaking DE items both timeconsuming and frustrating. Either there are hardly items on sale which DE into dust / essence etc with sufficient value or only against their bid price.

This means that you bid on a bunch of items and will be outbid for sure on more than 75% (if not all), especially with the long AH times now.

I get about 65% of the items I bid on, by raising what I bid to 50% of HSP instead of taking the default.
