Engineering: farming motesFollow

I just read a few threads regarding engineers being able to extract motes using a 'mote extractor'. Is this ability limited to only being able to extract the motes of life in zangarmarsh? Or are their different extractors available that will allow you to get other motes?
If someone could please clarify, it would be appreciated.
Thank !

My understanding is that if you have the goggles equipped you will see the gas clouds on your minimap and then you use the mote extractor to get whatever motes it provides. Certain clouds appear in certain zones. I think many can be found in Nagrand.

LOL...Related =)

I can see gas clouds when riding around Nagrand without goggles. Maybe you don't need them?

You need googles to see the clouds on your *minimap*, as if they were mining or herb nodes.

OP: You can get motes of wind from windy clouds in Nagrand, motes of shadow from shadowy clouds in Shadowmoon Valley, motes of mana from arcane vortices in Netherstorm, and motes of water from swamp gas in Zangarmarsh. You can no longer get motes of life with a zapper--the swamp gas gives water now.

What he said.
Gratz on using the correct plural of Vortex too!

I beleive the Arcane Vortices in Netherstorm are actually invisible to the naked eye, but become visible with the goggles. They can be detected by the presence of "sparkles" on any character close enough. All the others are visible to non-goggle wearers.

There are no mote clouds in Hellfire, Terrokar or Blades Edge neither. Feel free to correct me if wrong.

Also there are no "Motes of Nether", Primal Nether does not come from collecting 10 of them.

Thanks everyone, great info.
How about we petition Blizzard to let engineers extract motes of nether from something?
Am I the only one thinking that engineering could use a bit of a gift?
We're kind of lacking in the benefits department.

No, I think being able to farm 6 primal mana in under an hour is a pretty good gift in itself.

Now I would like to see fire clouds to extract motes of fire. Even if they were rare and in small areas like the fire elemental zone of BEM or the central volcano of SMV, it would still be nice.

lol - agreed. How come you can create better plate armor with engineering than you can with Armorsmithing?

engineers can make their own fairly cool, but on my server very over populated, flying mounts. Isn't that a gift? Plus if all the people at bliz started smoking the sticky ganja and did give engineers the ability to extract nether motes from some strange area, everyone with crafting professions requiring primal nether would pick up engineering and power level it in order to get the primal nether without having to actually work hard for it.

You need to make a zapthrottle mote extractor to extract motes from the gas clouds. It pays for itself quickly.
