whats good with a epic flyer?Follow

#1 Jan 20 2008 at 11:00 PM Rating: Decent
Hey I am a mage on US PVE sever, i am half way to getting my epic flyer now, and having 375 tailoring and 275 enchanting as of my profession right now. What I heard is that an epic flyer is really good for some professions, so can someone plz give me some advise on whats good profession when I have my epic flyer? Thinking of eng becuase I am a Gnome and I can get motes farming from it, but also heard any gathering profession is great when use an epic flyer.

I would think mining and herbing, where you have tracking. See a node/plant land and harvest. rinse and repeat.

Any gathering skill that requires you to search for your resourse will benifit more from an epic flyer.

A good combo would be mining, engineering and fishing for example.

If you have the mod gatherer installed it will mark on your mini map the locations of every node you use, which is helpful if you choose mining and herbs.

Having spent 5000G on a mount, I wouldn't really bother dropping my profs and starting over again in the lowbie lands just to level Mining or Herbing, in order to make money in order to buy, ummm, nothing at all.

Of course, it's highly possible that OP means any flying mount. Yeah, a flyer is great for mining, herbing and engineering, but you'd need to weigh up the relative cost of your investment in tailoring/chanting now, the time it would take you to level mining on Azeroth, and the profit you'd ultimately make from the ores/ bar. Doing the same thing with Engineering (or Mining and Engineering) would decrease your profit and cash flow even more.

If you are going to swap professions, do it sooner rather than later though.

keep your current tailor/enchant profs. tailored epics are great and enchanting is a great prof for maxing your stats as a level 70 (and it's a money maker).

I am thinking of getting Mote Extractor from Eng. Is that good for an epic flyer to flying around and collect motes from outland?

It's fun. It's just as fun with a Land mount. But it's a hell of a long slow grind to get Engineering up to that level.

I see how it is, but is it worth it and it is good for an epic flyer?

just keep tailoring and enchanting, the spellfire set is way better than grinding engineering and mining up to 375 when ur already over 250 with both professions

why drop enchanting? just get it to 300 and disenchant. Sell the results :)

Don't even bother getting (dis)enchanting to 300. You've got it at 275 which is high enough to DE all but the very top level of gear (epic 70s) and you'll almost never find those.

275 is easily high enough to make money from DEing and selling mats.

hellolin, since you really don't care what anyone has to say and are going with mining anyways, here's some tips.

For the first lvls of mining, you can powerlvl it by buying out copper ores and smelting them into bars. Same goes for tin, silver, and iron, although there can be quite a big difference in price between silver ores and silver bars because of jewelcrafting.

Anyways, doing this will gain you a good amount of lvls and allow you to start mining ores that are worth much more. Either that, or go mine some 15-20 nodes of copper, then get back to town and smelt it. Either way, smelting is the way to go for early lvls.

Other than that, good job on dropping the profession which has a great possibility of netting you the highest gold/hour for time invested. Instead of thinking that "new = better" all the time, start looking at ways you can make it with what you have.

Lots of people offering feedback from the perspective of what appears to be folks who haven't hit 70 or haven't been there for a while.

If you've already capped tailoring, keep it. You can grind Netherweave Cloth very easily and do all kinds of neat things with it for profit.

Enchanting to 275 is fine if you never plan on raiding. If you get into raiding (even Karazhan) there will almost inevitably come a time when most of the loot you see will get sharded. Every boss drops 2 epics, and after you've been through a few times, only so many of those epics are going to be wanted by your party. If you don't have someone to shard them, you get to vendor them for a whole 5-8g. Shard them and the shard becomes worth 15-30g (depending on your realm) or can be set aside for high end enchants (ie. Mongoose, etc.)

I had Enchanting/Skinning as my professions when I got to Outland. When I got my epic flyer, I dropped skinning for mining. Then I got bored with mining and dropped it for Herbalism. Fishing with an epic flyer...meh. You don't need to cover nearly the ground that you do with mining or herbalism. Not to say it wouldn't be a benefit, just not nearly so big.

The only time I would recommend dropping a profession to cash in on the benefits of finding nodes with an epic flyer is if you've got professions that you aren't using or would be less profitable than what you could get with mining/herbalism + epic flyer.

And once you've got an epic flyer, believe me...the costs don't magically stop. New gear means new gems + new enchants. Raiding means big repair bills and consumable costs. Lowbie alts can suck you dry in a heartbeat if you're not careful. The costs only become greater the farther you progress at 70...just because you've got the biggest "one shot" expense out of the way doesn't mean you have no further use for gold.

Thx for all your replies, I really really learn a lot from you guys.
And last week, I got my epic flyer, getting my epic flyer isnt for raiding or anything else, but just for that end game stauts, and I dropped enchanting to mining and currently i am lvling it up now. I dont know how much can I earn from mining in outland using my epic flyer but I am just tired of the way I make money to get my epic flyer before, I use to do AOE grinding and DE everything i get everyday, and I know it is really profitable, but the problem is I got bored of doing so and want to try another way. I am lvling up an alt that can be supported though mining too ( A warrior with BS and Eng), think thats gonna help me with the game anyways. Well can anyone tell me more about the mining in the outland part? Like how much can I get and where to go? Thx a lot guys!

The way to make money with DISenchanting isn't to grind and get those drops, you go on the AH and buy cheaper greens that disenchant into items that are worth more than what you spent on the green and sell that.

That being said, I personally would have went with herbalism, I dropped mining (at 375) for it and haven't looked back. Then again I raid 3 times a week and consumable costs dropped significantly when I can go through and get all of my mats for mana potions in a few runs along with other rare items (Fel lotus -- for Flask of Pure Death) and others that sell pretty well.

you only need enchanting at 300 to be able to DE everything in the game, so the other 75 points above that are not necessary if you want to make money (unless you plan on rep-grinding, etc to hock trade channel stuff).
