i have a hunter and i really want to get the dragonhawks (tamable) in eversong woods, but i have absolutely no idea how to get there. any tips? and its a night elf (alliance) hunter and i have burning crusade, if that matters.
Well you have to be prepared to die a LOT to get there. And its going to probably take you a couple hours too. You basically have to run from IF, up through wetlands, arathi highlands, hillsbrad, hinterlands, western plaguelands, eastern plaguelands, ghostlands, and then finally eversong woods. Not only are you going to be running through areas of mobs that 1-shot you, if you're on a PvP server you're almost guaranteed to get ganked multiple times. If you think the pet is worth it though, more power to you.
I'd advise against it because the beasts have caster stats.

What you can do is die in Wetlands/Arathi and just run your ghost the way Dilbrt said or go Wetlands, Arathi, Hillsbrad, Silverpine, Tirisfal Glade, Western Plaguelands, EPL and finally run through the portal to Ghostlands. Then you can rez in Eversong and find one to tame.
The reason this will work is because you pass through a portal alot like an instance to get to the Ghostlands, so the "cheating" way of rezzing at a spirit healer in Eversong will work unless Blizz nerfed it.
I did the same thing when getting my Lynx right after completing the hunter quests.

I guess you could take the teleporter above Undercity, dunno if Allianence players can use it but if you can you can use the teleporter, then run as far as you can through the BE HQ and when you get killed jsut recurrect at the graveyard outside of Silvermoon. I dunno where you will end up if you die in the city, but I guess it would be just outside of Silvermoon. But as I said, I don't know if ally players canuse the teleporter above UC =)

Nope, that won’t work. I know because I tried it myself. *smiles*
However, making the run as a ghost as Fuzzzywuzy suggested is a good way to go about it. I’ve done so on both the alliance and horde sides. Unfortunately, since the powers that be at Blizzard were in a sadistic mood when they put the low level dragonhawks in game, if you really want to level up with one you’ll have to be willing to have a less powerful pet at your side. The dragonhawks are beautiful beasts, and I much prefer the color of the low level ones, so it may well be worth it to you. But that’s something you’ll have to decide for yourself.

Be aware, the dragonhawk in Eversong Woods is a caster build, and the fire breath has an area effect and can aggro more than you intended.
There is a small pet that matches, and you might find it in a neutral auction house. It's a vendored pet, not a drop, and the vendor is a Blood Elf, so you won't be able to buy it from the vendor.
