Getting discouraged...Follow

Just bought my rogue his epic flyer yesterday, and I love it.

The only problem is I wanted to have my mining at 300 by the time he got it so I could quickly pump it to the cap.

Now, however, I'm stuck at around 250 (the small thorium vein stage) and cannot find any veins to raise it on. It seems like every zone I go to somebody is already there doing the same thing as me. As a result, in the last hour+ I've gone to 3 different zones, gotten a total of 9 skillups, and gotten terribly discouraged.

Anybody got any advice in the way of out of the way places to look for small thorium veins?

I've been using wowmap.com and have already hit Searing Gorge, Burning Steppes, Un'goro, and now I'm on my way to Silithus.

HELP!!!?!?!?!?!!!

You already have the major ones. Honestly the best thing you can do is to try to get skillups during off-peak times when fewer people are on.

Agreed. One lap around Burning Steppes should take you less than 15 mins (with epic mount). Just hop online at some silly hour when no one else is around and you can easily collect what you need.

I did it before I went into work, and got skilled up really fast.

Another thing is to ask in the /1 Channel if anyone else is mining Thorium in the area. If yes, then go to another zone. It doesn't always work, but it can help speed things up if someone does reply.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm down to needing 5 small thorium veins before being able to do the rich and ooze covered rich ones.

I'm gonna head to Silithus and hope to get those 5 veins so I can immediately start on the ones in the hive. Last trip around there I must have seen 15-20 ooze-covered nodes in the hives.

I've never gotten mining that high, but would Dark Iron ore work? A 70 rogue could easily stealth (or, hell, even walk for the most part) to anywhere in BRD, and there's a ton of ore there. I believe it starts at 230 for skill, so it should still be yellow or green. If competition is getting you down, try that, then Silithus for Ooze-covered Thorium, stealthing into the caves?

Not usual, but works tons when hitting hard-times in gathering:

Sleep in the afternoon, and just wake up at 2-3 AM.

Unless a lot of people do the same stuff you will, you will probably get all the skillups you need in one night.

I don't have the luxury of being awake at 2-3am. I work full time and usually get up at 7 am to go to work and don't get home til after 6pm.

It's cool now though, I finally knocked out some small thorium veins in Silithus then raped the hives for their ooze covered rich throium veins is a mad dash to HfP.

As we speak, my mining was at 188 when I logged on this morning and is at 358 now and I made over 400g from all the ore, stone, and gems I mined up today.

When you can do the rich veins..go to Dark Whisper Gorge in winter spring as a rogue yuo can stealth thru there and avoid all the elites and theres usually 5-6 veins in there.

Ahh I see your past the need for my post but someone may get use from it so Ill leave it.
