Fishing buffFollow

Does the buff from a fishing lure disapprear as soon as time expires, or after the final bobber timer? For example, if I cast with 5 seconds left on my lure time, will I get the benefit of the lure for that entire cast, or only the first 5 seconds?

Buff is gone as soon as the icon poofs on you - that's why even though the bobber is still in the water, you get the message that your fish got away or you aren't skilled enough to fish here.
