One of my characters is a tailor, but I guess this could apply to any crafting trade.
For example, the Robes of Power. You make the item, and without choice it goes into your backpack. You have not touched it, yet you cannot do anything other than sell it to a vendor or use it.
If you are a Mage or Warlock that might not be too bad, unless you already have a better robe and want to mail the item to another of your characters to use. Cannot do that of course the way it is set up.
I had it explained to me that the developers wanted to make some items "special", things that you could not buy from vendors. However, if your tailor (for this example) is a Warrior or Palladin then to what use is this object (specifically the Robes of Power).
I do not mind the "binds on equipping" part, but "binds on pickup" seems a bit ridiculous given that you cannot make an item in any craft that does not go into your backpack. Binds on pick up can be for quested items or even some loot items. But in crafting (jewell, blacksmith, cooking, tailoring, engineering) one of the purposes is being able to make things that the crafter can sell to others, sell to a vendor, use themselves or (yes, perish the thought) give to another character of yours or to a friend.
