Okay, I'm getting highly discouraged. I've killed probably 500 of these bash'ir spell-thieves over the last 3 days, and nada. I'm starting to believe blizzard broke this drop last patch. Has anyone gotten this recipe to drop since the addition of the sun-well dailies in the area?
I got mine pre-sunwell but it took an obscene amount of pharming then a guildy went hunting for it and got it within ten minutes - take a break for a week and then try again - you'll probably get it on the first few kills.
Man, took about another 100 kills for it to finally drop. Worst farm drop evar!

HAHA I didn't even know it dropped there... until I was doing the daily and a mob dropped the formula. I was a very happy boy :)
I'm having trouble getting the bracer +spell damage one though. I've killed a lot of those Bloodmaul Geomancers but there aren't very many and I haven't had any luck yet.

Lets see, I must have killed close to 100 of those damned thieves for my drop.
Sunfury Researchers for Major Intellect - Weapon? 10 kills (yay!)

Yeah, enchant drops aren't fun.

Sigh - I've effectively given up on that one - too much farming for no results.
Not this helps you in any way, but Just chill out on the farming for a day or 2, then try it. I went out there, killed maybe 40-50 and it fell.
Again, not that this will make you feel any better but I got mine on the 11th kill.
It took me about a week or so to farm for the drop at about an hour or two a day - To keep some semblance of sanity, i would break off and farm for the "bracers - spellpower" enchant as well to the south.
Speaking of the "Bracers-Spellpower", that's the one that's been giving me trouble!
the bracer spell power was way worse for me because the geomancers are random spawns off of the other ogres.

Same. Not only does the formula have a crappy drop rate, but the mobs themselves share spawns with other kinds of ogres and have a relatively low and slow spawn rate.

Out of all the recipes I've farmed for that was definately one of the worse, I put it up there with Greater Shadow resistance for cloak.
Also, not to sound like sour grapes, but the reality is that the mats for that vs the superior healing really aren't worth the cost for the 5 extra points of damage.
4x Greater Planar Essence, 4x Primal Life = +10 damage +30 healing
6x Large Prismatic Shard, 6x Primal Fire, 6x Primal Water = +15 damage/healing
On my server the GPE goes for 5-7g and the Life is 15-25g so that's an average cost of around 104g for +10 damage.
On the other hand the shards, fire and water all go for 20-30g or more, but even calling an average price of 25g each (which is cheap really) we're still talking at least 450g for +15 damage.
So what it comes down to is whether or not an extra 5 points of damage is worth 346 gold to you?
When I'd done the math and combined that with the rare drop rate, I decided that no, it was not worth the time and effort to get, much less the cost to get.

That while true for the most part is not true for everyone. If your a hard core raider any little bit helps especially considering how easy it is to get money now.
Oh yeah - I know - that's why I included -
If gold isn't an issue or you live and breath raiding/PVP then obviously you'll go for it.
But the reality is that for most peeps it isn't worth it.

I haven't gotten to this point, but reading over the thread, I figure this should be said...
It seems it drops off a mob that you kill in a daily. Just do the daily every day and you're sure to get it eventually. Don't get discouraged over it. Do the daily and if you don't get it, oh well. Go do something else and do the daily again the next day.

Handofdeath - you are 100% correct. That is exactly what I did. For the daily I just focused on Spell Thiefs. It dropped soon enough. Plus, I made money doing the daily :) All is good.
I wish that they had a daily killing those Geomancers. That took a while....lol.
There is also a daily to kill Sunfury elves, so you can farm Enchant Weapon - Major Intellect at the same time.

LOL - no, it just doesn't seem like as bad a grind if you focus on the mobs that drop it while doing the daily - the chances don't increase.
Its like the theory that standing in a particular spot (usually the bank or next to mailbox) increases your chances of making an alchy discovery - it doesn't - you just happened to stand there most often when making pots.
Not a single one of the enchanting formulas that drop out in the world(not counting in instances) off of specific mobs has taken me more than an hour to farm.

After reading stories and seeing it myself, I am convinced this be truth.
I was trying to get Khorium Belt (Murkblood Raiders), spent 2+ hours killing them. A few days later, after a dailies run, I sit down to kill a few for 30-45min... second round of repops, it drops.
This is kinda off topic but I was farming the Bracer-Major Spellpower off the Geomancers and really getting frustrated after hours and hours of farming...so I took a break and cruised up to Netherstorm for the 2H Weapon Intellect chant and got that on my 6th kill!
I felt pretty good about that, but now I'm back to those dang Geomancers! I've had great luck on the other two, so I can't complain too loud I guess. :)

He never said it would be more likely. He just said that if you do the daily everyday instead of focusing on grinding it you'll get two birds with one stone. And, that, assuming you do the daily every day, you'll probably get it eventually.

Thats the best way to look at it. Rather then seeing it as having bad luck on one look at how good you had it for other drops. If you see it that way it is not nearly as bad to try and get it.
