Unfortunately, that guide is wrong. It doesn't matter where you fish for leveling the skill.
Um the first line in the guide clearly says:
Quote:
Fishing in even the lowest level water can and will level your fishing
The guide offers tips on leveling as well as good locations to fish for skill and profits. As well as note important fishing locations. To call my guide wrong is unfair, untrue, and plain rude.
It's funny, but never mentioned is the most lucrative low-level fishing for Horde. The Oases in the barrens yield up plenty of Deviate fish, which I've found always sell well. If you get the recipe for Savory Deviate Delight, you can make even more gold. You should be able to catch them without a lure at 50 skill, and they will last you until you get to Tanaris and start in on Stonescale Eels.
OK, so let's talk about the errors:
Quote:
Level 1-50
Alliance: Crystal Lake in Elwynn Forest
Horde: The lake at Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore
So if you are a Night Elf, Draenei, or any Horde race other than Tauren, you can't get to 50 skill. Additionally, I've found that the pond behind the Forge in Goldshire is much better (and safer) for lowbies than Crystal Lake.
The error is one of ommision - any fishing area in the starting zones is good for the initial leveling. Not mentioned is that players should also start with a +25 lure to begin with, since you want to avoid "your fish got away" messages as much as possible. You should be able to get to 25 skill on the first lure, and you won;t have to buy any more to get your skill up to 100 there.
It goes on like that - a single place for each, and never a mention of the fish that bring in money or can be used for recipes. Basically, the guide is worthless. In defense of the guide, all I can say is that it does have pretty maps.
