Greater/Lesser Nether Essences?Follow

#1 Apr 22 2008 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
Well, my enchanting is very low... about level 260 on my level 67 lock. I was wondering where a good place to go to find items to disenchant and get (with luck) nether essences would be. I don't really want to spend tons of gold buying it on the AH.

weapons in the mid-40s range.

Thanks.

I did look at what items disenchant into nether essences, but I was wondering if their was an area/instance good for hunting such items.

According to this site, most of those items cost more than the Nether Essence itself, on the AH.

If you can solo Sunken Temple, items dropping there should be in that level range.

I've read over the replies to the ST page. It seems I may not be able to completely clear it out, but I think I should be able to kill a good number of the mobs in there without a problem.

Thanks.

Strat and Scholo are the primo areas to get these

The best place to obtain the mats is the AH. If you buy the items to be disenchanted for Nether essences using
/Enchantrix percentless 50,
you'll find plenty, and be able to sell whatever you don't use for a huge profit.

wouldn't you normally be getting eternals and illusion dust?

Another option is to focus on getting Dream Dust. While doing that, you'll probably get some Nether Essences to help you up a few levels. HINT - get a tailoring friend, and you can just farm cloth (Mageweave is easy to farm in Hinterlands - Jintha'lor or the AH)

Then, once you hit lvl 265, get the Enchant Shield - Greater Stamina recipe. 10 Dream Dust per enchant. That will get you from 265-290 easily.

The hardest part (I found) is when you need illusion dust or eternal essences. Those are the toughest to come by, even working the AH...

EDIT - farming instances at that level are hard. They go kind of slow, and the only reliable drops are the blues from bosses. As you know, those will give you shards most of the time. Shards are not very useful while leveling, and don't sell for much money (other than Prismatics of course).

Is the shield enchant the only one between 265 and 300 that relies on dusts rather than essences? My chanter is closing in on 265 and it does look grim out there, most of the enchantments seem to requires essences. I can tailor me up some dust quickly, but not essences.

Thanks for the info. I'll see about buying that shield enchant soon. I think I've have a few stacks of dream dust laying around.

tuskerdu - the shield enchant is the only one that relies on dream dust...which is easy to get. There are others that rely on illusion dust, but that is much harder/more expensive to get since TBC came out. So you'll want to limit the number of enchants that use illusion dust if you can.

Of course, if you are leveling up your toon, then you should get plenty of illusion dust/eternal essences from quest rewards. It really depends on your situation.

EDIT - don't forget that the shield enchant formula is BoP. I tried to have an alt buy it once...didn't work so well....lol

I looked at the shield enchant formula page, seeing what others said about it. It seems to have mixed replies... some say it doesn't show up until you have 265+ enchanting and others say you can have less. Some say they couldn't get it to show up in UC, but they could at the other merchant that sells it.

Since you're got tailoring another option may be to farm/buy cloth and make... I think it was black mageweave headbands or something. Find something in the level range that has a chance to give nether essences. You'll most often get dream dust but you're going to need that too so it's like double gathering.

The shield enchant is a limited supply formula. Please ignore everything you read about it. People will tell you that you need to buy one formula off the vendor for it to spawn, or other stuff like that. Or that you have to buy the JC recipe 3x, and then it will show up.....ignore all that. All those are just coincidences.

Here's the deal. It will not always be on the vendor when you get there (just like any limited item). However, you must make sure to go through all the of the vendor's items since this particular formula generally shows up as one of the last items (even though another enchant formula and the JC recipe will be the first items). It is kind of weird.

I bought this on a toon that did not have 265 enchanting (that toon is still at 220). So you do not have to have 265 enchanting for it to show up (unless Blizzard changed this in 2.4).

Shield it is...ugh. Enchanting has been a nightmare already to 258 and it seems it gets far worse....

On the upside, you don't have to go to Uldaman anymore to train.
#18 Apr 24 2008 at 9:01 AM Rating: Decent
Is their another trainer, other than the one in Uldaman or Shat? I've actually never been to Uldaman before and I'm an Aldor, so I can't get to the Shat trainer.

I think all trainers now train up to artisan and then for the Outland stuff you'll have to go to Thrallmar then if you're Aldor.
#20 Apr 24 2008 at 9:13 AM Rating: Decent
Ok. I'm pretty sure I've learned everything from the trainer in Thrallmar.

I had the worst problems obtaining nether essences for my enchanter also. I had no problems with eternal essences.

As has already been stated, weapons tend to drop more essences than dusts. So your trade-off is buying more expensive weapons to disenchant versus needing to buy more of the cheaper armor pieces to get the same number of essences. Here's listing of items that disenchant into nether essences with percentages. Buy or craft items with higher chance of DEing into nether essences.

I just sent the armor and weaponry I created to level up my other toons trade skills to my enchanter. I disenchanted it all, kept what I needed and sold the excess dusts. The stuff one makes to level trade skills almost never is profitable to sell. So look for those in your auction house. They'll likely be the cheapest stuff you can buy that'll DE into what you need. ;)

I ended up just buying items to disenchant off the AH. Each item was ~3-4g each, which I usually got 1-2 lesser nether essences from.

On my realm, 1 lesser nether essence is worth about 3g.

Now I've got lvl 265 enchanting and have that shield enchant, so I've just gotta sit around, offering to enchant for people, to lvl my enchanting more... fun stuff.

Handsofdeath - here are some other options...

Use the "/enchantrix percentless 50" slash command, and buy lvl 45-51 armor items. DE them, and use half of the mats to level your skill, and sell the other half. You should just about break even.

Aren't you a tailor too? Another option is to go crank out some Runecloth Belts and DE them. You'll get all the mats you need to level up. Plus, you'll probably get some Eternal Essences, which you'll need later on.

These are just some ideas so that you don't have to sit around trying to sell enchants. I've never had much luck with that until I got above lvl 300 (where people actually want the enchants).
#24 Apr 30 2008 at 12:47 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, I'm also a tailor.

I've gotten my enchanting up to 266, I think. I can't get the armory page to load right this second, due to being too busy.

My brother also has an enchanter (higher enchanting then me) and didn't know of my mats issue. He's going to be sending me a few mats he doesn't use anymore, so I should be able to get 270 or higher, easily.

3-4g? You lucky *******. On Amun'thul Horde Greater nethers are about 10g each and lessers are 5 or 6 minimum.

Hi mike....not sure if this was went over by you somewhere else, but I'm wondering if its possible to put the Enchantrix output in a separate window? It seems it defaults to the main chat window and it soon scrolls up. So, when it find something, I type it in the AH buy it, then the output is gone.
