Seeking information on scribing ... Building small FAQFollow

#1 Jun 06 2008 at 6:21 AM Rating: Decent
I'm looking for more information on this new profession as it will come out. thinking of switching to Scribbing on it's release but lacking information. As well as knowing if we will need 2 professtion to be able to make it work nicely (ex: Alche & herbi).

Thanks

Not much concrete is known on this new profession, other than it became available on Alpha (1-200 only) a few days ago.

This is the description of the skill from wow-wiki.

p.s. it's not "Scribbing" - it's "Inscription"

Will be interesting to see how this pans out, one would assume having your six glyphs will be mandatory if you want to be serious about raiding or pvp, and "cookie cutter" inscription builds will likely become common once the rare recipes become established on the servers.

One of the things I would like to know is the ease of changing your glyphs. The examples given are very specific, you might find yourself wanting to change glyphs on a per fight basis (for example swapping in a glyph which makes your heals proc frost resist for a frost orientated fight, or losing your improved frostbolt for improved blizzard in an aoe orientated fight).

If they're swappable like gear this will be straightforward, but if they are more akin to enchants things might get expensive for the hybrid classes who often switch roles completely (for example I respec from holy-pve to holy-pvp to prot several times a week, being stuck with healing glyphs when i'm tanking is not ideal).

So yeah I can justify that ramble by saying these are (somewhat obvious) questions for your faq, which havn't been answered properly yet :D

As far as I know, these will be similar to Enchants. The glyph will be permanent until overridden by a new one. Since the glyphs are on spells, talents, and abilities, there should be nothing to prevent you from having heals proc frost resist while still having improved frostbolt at the same time (different spells). This would be similar to having Mongoose on a weapon and +healing on your gloves. You won't be able to have more than one glyph on a single spell, talent, or ability, though. So +damage and +distance on the same spell will be right out. This is sheer speculation based on comments made a year ago at Blizzcon, so take what I said with a grain of salt.
