Heading to 375 tailoringFollow

My mage finally broke through the 300 barrier (impossible to find ironweb silk or essence of water on AH on my server) and is now rocketing through master tailor because of the 300-odd pieces of netherweave I've banked. (Think I'm at 327 now.) He's a fire mage, only 59 currently, and will inevitably start what appears to be a very painful process of making that spellfire set for end-game.

Anything I should know about getting my tailoring to 375? I've looked at the patterns and it seems expensive but eminently doable. I'm just casting about for any hidden tricks, shortcuts or pitfalls, since I have a slow day at work....

Congrats on getting through that barrier. Now you will have the fun and excitement of collecting more netherweave than you thought possible...

I decided to power level tailoring on my priest once I hit 70 and I had saved almost a thousand pieces of netherweave...and it wasn't enough. I used Chezzik's tailoring guide from the o-boards (yes, there are a few gems nestled deep within the garbage at the o-boards) and I highly recommend it. He tells you what recipes to learn, how much cloth you will need and some other good tips.

You don't need to learn every single recipe unless you choose to, and I suggest if you are not an enchanter that you make friends with one. The gear that you craft will not sell all that well typically but you can recoup some of your losses leveling tailoring by selling the dusts and essences gained through disenchanting.

Keep grinding humanoids to get more cloth, many also give reputation with one faction or another. Around level 64 I seriously went to town on the Ogres in Nagrand. You will gain reputation with either the Mag'har (Horde) or the Kurenai (Alliance) just by killing and the ogres also drop warbeads. Those beads can be turned in to the aforementioned factions or you can also turn them in to the Consortium. With the Consortium, you will need to do a brief number of pre-quests before you can turn in the beads. But then, you may already know this, so that information may not be all that great for you.

Good luck and happy tailoring. :)

*edit* forgot to mention to kill lots of spiders in Terrokar...you will need their spidersilk too.

Thanks much. I am an enchanter too, and my bank is already groaning from the arcane dusts and planar essences I've collected while my chanting sits at 282. I'll check out the guide.

I have killed 30 spiders in one hit and got maybe 4 webs, then I get 4 from killing less than 10 spiders. Overall though I think the drop rate is real low. You will need a lot of netherweb spider silks for post 360 patterns (Imbued Netherweave gear etc). It is pretty expensive on my server as well. 11-15G a piece.

The earlier you can get into the 365+ patterns the better chance you will have of completely crafting your Spellfire set for when you ding 70. With a (close enough to) 4 day cooldown on making your spellfire thread, it will take well over a month to get enough for the full set. How many people will ding 70 with a set of purples waiting for them?

Look out for bargains on Netherweave cloth on the AH too, I have bought bucketloads of stacks for less than 3G.

Yeah, the drop rate on the spidersilk is crappy, but if you start early enough, it is possible to grind out a fair amount of them by the time one is ready to use them. I am just way, way too cheap to buy a bunch of netherweb spidersilk on the AH at upwards of 10 gold per. That being said, don't be afraid to purchase mats on the AH...if you have the money to do so, you can easily make it up later by doing the plethora of dailies available at 70. I ended up buying some bolts of netherweave and since I had plenty of arcane dust in the bank I was able to make all the imbued netherweave.

Keep an eye out for primals also, and learn all the specialty cloths. I sold the two kinds I wasn't using and purchased what I did need.

Oh, and did I mention Chezzik's guide? It was a big help...what items to make, making the most of your materials...all that sort of thing. :D

I hadn't thought of this. I have been so hellbent on getting my shadowweave gear that I have only learnt to make shadow cloth. So I can make spell/moon cloth as well as shadow cloth, but specialise in only one?

Yes, you can learn all three patterns, but can only specialize in one. So, you produce two pieces of cloth within your specialty and one of each other kind. I didn't make so many spellcloth simply due to not having that many primal fires on hand and wanting to conserve them, but happily primal mooncloth sells quite well on my server (between 80 to 110 gold per piece).

Another thing to think of is some of these patterns use a lot of primal waters. I fish up motes of water pretty frequently, both from regular schools of Outland fish as well as the pools of Pure water in Nagrand.

you said you are lvl 59 now, so i assume you will hit 375 tailoring before you are able to run Mech or Arc.

In Mech, there are 2 BoP patterns that drop and are not too hard to get if you run Mech. those patterns are a much cheaper way to finish out the last few levels to get to 375.
Arc has 1 pattern as well from a 3 peice set.

probably will not help you since you sound like you will cap tailoring well before you hit 70.
