If I remember correctly, back when season 3 hit steady talasite and all talasite really spiked in price for a bit. I was curious if you all thought the same hing was going to happen with steady talasite on the 24th, or if there is going to be less of a draw with people needing individual rating (which will get wiped) for just about all gear and the emergence of purple gems. Or are these gems even still good for pvp? (sorry, I don't pvp at all, so not up on all the gems / chants people want)
Basically, was thinking of playing the market now for the low 4g per steady talasite hoping that the market on the 24th will really skyrocket, and was wondering if people were doing the same on other servers.

Certainly the demand for those gems will climb when Season 4 begins, spiking during the first 48 hours and staying high during the entire week. However, it's hard to predict what the supply will be on your server. Many jewelcrafters and enchanters know that around a season switch is a great time to make a killing, so it's possible that heavy competition might keep prices low as people try to unload the huge volume of green gems they've saved up.
For example, I've got two stacks of Talasite in my bank that I want to get rid of. I'll probably put them on the AH 4 at a time at a price only slightly about the usual price, since I think I'll get maximum profit from moving the whole volume rather than getting the best price I can. If they're flying out of the AH, I'll probably raise the price some, but I'll start pretty reasonably.
By contrast, I plan to list my red and orange gem cuts at extortionist prices, and purple and yellow ones pretty high.

put em up 6-8 at a time. Brand new gear has empty sockets, people are gonna wanna purchase em before they go out of stock.
If it is ok with mundaneboy I would like to slip in a question of my own here since it is along the same lines. Which gems do you think will be the best sellers (other than the epic ones) when s4 comes out?

Offensive gems. +spelldamage, +strength, +agility, and hybrids of those with +crit and +spellcrit. Resilience and resilience/stamina will sell, but red and orange will be the big tickets.
Blue gems in particular will not sell well. There are no blue sockets in PVP gear. Some folks might grab greens or a purple if they feel they need extra stamina, but not many.
