I know for certain that you can get some trade skill caps to 450, but the trainers are in Northrend, and so far I haven't seen any that have books you can buy. It cost me 100G to train First Aid to Grand Master. It cost 35G to train cooking and Herbalism to Grand Master. I talked to the Alchemy trainer, but all he had was a new recipe - maybe it's because I'm not at cap.
Death Knights starting level for First Aid is 275. All other trade skills are as normal for DKs (buy Apprentice level)

Hey Mike - what's the flow of gold like? I remember how people would describe Outlands as paved with gold when leveling to 60, but the expenses were also greater. It still dwarfed Azeroth though and increased expenses were easily managed. It seems the expenses in Northrend are now greater than Outlands; is the flow of gold from quests and what-not also that much greater that the expenses are easily handled?

It's hard to tell. Since the economy is rotten (not enough people to make it viable, and all skewed toward the high end), it's hard to determine what will sell and what won't. Drops are pretty good (mid to high 60's for items in the Borean Tundra), but I haven't sold a single one at the AH, because most players are either beyond that or it's stuff thet Death Knights can't use. The economy on the beta server just isn't conducive to making conclusions on what is or is not money-making. Herbs seem to be few and far between on the tundra. My wife did find a single cobalt mine (I guess that's the next metal up)...
