Inscriptions PTR / Beta QuestionFollow

#1 Sep 19 2008 at 3:23 PM Rating: Decent
So I have leveled inscription to 375 on the PTR and know what herbs it takes to make that run. My question is around the importance of Mageroyal. It seems to me that all the good inscriptions required 1 mageroyal as a regent. Can people tell me if that is likely to change once it moves to the Production server or is the PTR usually a pretty good representation of what reality will look like.

This is my first experience with the PTR so I am asking from pure ignorance.

It has already changed on the PTR. Log back in and take a look at your recipes, you will see that none require mageroyal anymore. They changed that earlier this week.

Someone posted a pretty good thread on it.

Already saw that thread, and thanks for the added reply.

Still, any comments made by people who have already taken up and have the maximum level for inscriptions is much appreciated.

You don't need specific herbs. Herbs are just there to be ground up. From what I saw there is only one recipe that requires a specific herb and that was Peacebloom, all the other ones just asked for the pigment that you get from milling. As long as you have a few stacks of every grade of herb, you should be perfectly fine.

Each level of herbs have a chance to drop a specific kind of pigment tho that is unique to specific class runes.

That's good to know, because I've been wondering just how the Glyphs themselves would ever be considered worth more than 5 of the cheapest herbs for that tier if that's all it took to mill a generic ink to make the glyph.

I've got.......so many herbs in the bank right now. And my rogue is in the process of leveling through HFP/Zangarmarsh, so I'm getting 2-3 tiers worth of herbs at the same time and just shipping them to my bank alt for storage. When the time comes, I'll have more than enough to level to cap but if everyone was getting the same generic bits to make the glyphs, everyone on the realm would be glyphed out with extras in the bank and the price for even the most sought after glyphs would probably be less than what I'd get for flogging the herbs.

Good thinking on Blizzard's part :D
