I was wondering if anyone could help me out with bottom scanner. I am using it to disenchant items and it will tell me that something that is level 40 for 3g can be DE and the mats can be sold for 75g. i have the latest version that i know of and it has worked just fine for a while now. I have not changed any of my setting either that would freak it out i don't think.

It will be different from server to server but I know that a lot of the time the essences you get from weapons in that level range (and up to the late 50's, eternal and I forget what the one just below that is) do sell for a lot.

1 greater eternal essence on my server sells for 10g so if bottomscanner turns up a weapon that will DE into 3 essences thats a 30g profit right there, prices might be a little different on your server but really unless you can tell us what its DE'ing into and what the average pricing on that mat is its hard to say for sure (and also I'm no expert on the addon, just adding my 2c on the subject ^^)

A long time ago I did an experiment on my realm to see just how much it would take to "break" Auctioneer/Enchantrix/Bottomscanner. I had an enormous supply of enchanting materials, what with D/E for profit being my mainstay at the time and the fact that the bottom had complete fallen out of the enchanting materials market.

So I took all of those mats and listed them as singles on auction for absolutely obscene prices. (ie. Strange Dust (single) for 1000g...and listed about 300 of them). It cost me nothing (no listing fee) and I was able to horribly skew the Auctioneer median price for weeks on my realm. Anyone who did an auctioneer scan during the 3-4 days I spent relisting my overstock at disgustingly overinflated prices had their median listing botched for some time afterwards (my own auctioneer, after running a full scan on each of the three days after months of scanning materials at "normal" prices showed a single Strinage Dust to be worth something like 270g).

Something similar may have happened on your realm. Best bet if you're not sure is to do a manual check of the current price range.

My guess is AureliusSir has it about right and someone was over inflating prices.

Best thing to do is check you have the latest Auctioneer Suite first , then take a look at the prices of the mats yourself , if they are within a reasonable level of what you expect then scan if possible twice a day as the more you scan the more even the prices will be , i always scan at least once a day anyway and i still see some crazy prices show up but they are usually on single items that some fool ? (goldseller ? ) has posted at a stupidly high price and the price of mats has stayed fairly constant for the last 6 months for me.

the price of enchanting mats on my server have been pretty solid lately, however they have gone up in price. but when an item that costs 4g to buyout and is in the 40 level range the max it can be DE for is 3 nether essence. that being said 3 nether essence dont sell for 75g on my server. basically what i have to do now is pay attentnion to item level and what that might yield in mats to know if it is worth buying.
