Question: Are you using lures, or do you naturally have 525 skill? Not sure if that's possible... hmmm... (475 + 35 (pole) + 5 (enchant) + 5 (hat) + 5 (boots) + 5 (line)). Ah, so it is. Anyway, what's your rig? :D

I've got the +25 pole, the +3 line from the fishing daily, +5 fishing daily hat and the +75 buff that hat gives so combine that with my 450 fishing skill and I'm running 558 and getting zero fish getting away.
I caught this today after 482 casts with maxed out skill, the seth's rod and sharpened hooks. I must have been temporarily insane today because after that, I went and fished up a rusty prison key and then I went and fished up all the coins. Total time fishing: 8.5 hours straight. The last hour and a half, I only needed one coin. >< I hate that fountain now.
Imagine how hard it is to fish up a coin!
Yeah, I'm down to one coin too - three hours blown trying to get it and no luck yet. >_<

Ugh. I have two toons doing the fishing dailies, one was capped at 375 and the other was 350ish, and I have gotten most of the cutsie things such as the cufflinks, the monacle, the ancient coin, etc., but I have not gotten any of the buff gear on either one.

I'm at 385-390 atm with the STV pole, the gloves, the hook lure and CPT Rumseys. Not sure what that adds up to, but I fished the sewers for about an hour and had maybe 2 fish get away, so you don't need the full rig to catch successfully. But no rat for me either.
The rusty prison key is caught by the Violet Hold. Supposedly you're able to unlock a chest in the water past some bars with it, but I haven't found that stupid chest yet. There is supposed to be rare quality goods in the chest. Hope I can find it some day...
So is this water inside the instance or adjacent to it outside?
It's outside, you'll see a set of bars that are bent open and the chest is in there. It looks like it might be broken at the moment however, as the chest does not have a way to interact with it.

Sorry - I meant the area to fish up the key - do you have to be inside the instance to fish it up or can you score it from a body of water outside (and if so, where)?
Right outside the instance, no need to go in at all.

OK, here's a bit of irony - was on my lock and waiting for someone so decide to skill up by fishing in the sewer - got the rat on the 8th catch. Sadly this means that it'll probably take the full 1k casts to get him on my main but at least he's an appropriate pet for an undead lock.
