Is there an add-on that lets me see both herbal and mining nodes on my mini-map simultaneously, perhaps one as a yellow dot, the other gree/blue/red or some such?
I know Cartographer shows where potential nodes are, but not whether they are active or not.

I'm not aware of any. My hunter/gatherer has both also. It would be sweet to see both; right now I have to click back and forth as I fly, and in Northrend I can't even fly which means I need to pay closer attention making it more difficult to click back and forth.

The closest you are going to get is Gatherer, which makes notes on your map anytime you tag a node. The Blizz tracking system will still only let you see yellow dots for one at a time, but as you gather more information your map will show icons for your nodes and a O there if it hasn't spawned.

Just to be clear, it technically always shows an O there, simply to indicate that you're close to it. You'll still only see some indication of whether a node has spawned if you're actively tracking that resource. Blizzard has deliberately coded it this way, and it looks like there's little hope of that changing anytime soon.
