I completely agree with the consensus. He should not expect the JC to provide the mats.

I haven't crafted for guildies for a while, but back in the day, I generally used a 50% off rate on hard to get mats. Back when Primal Nethers were BoP, I would ask for 50% of the going rate, or do a guild heroic run and get to need on the Nether. Seemed totally fair to me and no one ever complained. I'm not into raking friends over the coals, but there are some things in-game that are harder to accumulate.

I'm usually generous to a fault with friends and guildies, but there are some things that I refuse to part with for zero compensation. The exception would be a handful of friends that I have known a long time and know there's reciprocity. In the case presented by the OP...hell no.
