Hello to all our new readers, and welcome back to those who have been following ZAM's bi-weekly column, The Free Agent. Our mission, as always, is to answer the question "Can gaming REALLY be free?"

If you missed the last episode, be sure to check it out for our long overdue coverage of Path of Exile.

This week the Free Agent gets airborne with the latest title from Wargaming.net, the recently released World of Warplanes. Does it crash and burn or soar to new free-to-play heights, or maybe just fly along somewhere in the middle? Read on to find out.

This evening World of Warplanes Senior Producer, Gareth Luke, and Jamie King from Wargaming's PR team will join ZAM contributor Jeffrey "Undestructed" Wright for a livestream session! Make sure you tune in on ZAM's Twitch channel at 5:30pm Pacific Time to see some Warplanes action!

World of Warplanes Released

Wargaming, the same folks that brought us the ubiquitous World of Tanks, has released the second of their "World of" trio with World of Warplanes. This is the perfect game for those of you thinking "Gee, World of Tanks is neat, but I wish these tanks could fly!"

Wargaming, the developer behind action combat free-to-play MMOs World of Tanks and World of Warships, announced today that their upcoming flight combat MMO, World of Warplanes, will be delayed. The game, which was slated to be released in late September, is now set for a November 12th and 13th launch. Vlad Belozerov, Director of Global Operations for World of Warplanes, stated that, "The extra time will allow the development team to fine-tune the game balance and make sure that every feature is top-notch before launch."
