CCP Launches Countdown Clock on DUST 514 Site

CCP has launched an ominous countdown clock on the DUST 514 site, and it looks like fans will have something to look forward to when the clock hits zero on Monday, June 6 at 8 p.m. EDT. Here are a couple comments from the game's Facebook and Twitter pages to tide you over while you wait.

Facebook: "We'll spare you that obligatory 80's hair band joke, and simply say that we're counting down to something at www.dust514.com. If you've been following along and waiting for more info about DUST 514, we thank you for sticking with us and hope you'll join us when we count down to zero."

Twitter: "What's this? Well, let's just say it's not a self-destruct countdown... www.DUST514.com "

E3 kicks off next week, so the announcement most likely coincides with CCP's presence at the convention. What do you think will happen when the countdown reaches zero?

Perfect World to Unveil Blacklight Retribution FPS

Defiance, Trion's Syfy MMO, to be Revealed at E3

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trion Worlds' Defiance will be unveiled at E3 next week! We've known for quite some time that the company behind Rift has been working with Syfy on a new franchise that will launch as both a shooter MMO and a television show, but we'll finally get to see it on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in a few short days!

Here are some details on Defiance from The Hollywood Reporter:

"Set on a future Earth, Defiance introduces players and Syfy viewers to a world ravaged by decades of conflict, where humans and aliens live together in a world the likes of which no one has seen. The game combines the frenetic action of a top-tier console shooter with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart exudes the scope, story, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic. The game's story will take place in the San Francisco bay area, while the TV series will be set just outside of St. Louis, MO. Because they exist in a single universe, the show and the game will influence and evolve each other over time, with actions in both mediums driving the overall story of Defiance."

It's also worth noting that the Defiance page on the Trion Worlds site has been updated to reflect that the game's name has been revealed. Just to be clear, no release date has been set for the game or the TV show.

We'll be at E3 next week, so we'll be sure to bring you news on Defiance from the floor. What are your thoughts on this MMO/TV hybrid?
