Crucible - The First Week in Stats

With Crucible's recent deployment, CCP decided to give the fans a holiday gift... stats! In their latest dev blog, CCP Diagoras breaks down to the bare numbers since Crucible's launch.

They go into some pretty granular details, so if you wanna know the sheer numbers, head over to EVE Insider's Dev Blog and get all the charts and graphs you could ever want.

EVE Announces Crucible PLEX Sale

Hot on the heels of their newest Crucible expansion, the EVE Online team is slashing prices on their most popular PLEX packages in a special offer they're calling the Crucible PLEX sale. Maybe you can give yourself a big 'ol PLEX bundle for Christmas to keep up your EVE habits, or maybe you could purchase a PLEX package for a quick and easy Christmas present!

Either way, be sure to capitalize on the sale before Tuesday, December 6th (tomorrow!), because that's when the Crucible PLEX sale ends.

EVE Online confirms players like blowing up ships

14,502 explosions per day, 604 per hour, 10 per minute, roughly translating to an explosion every six seconds. Boom. One more! CCP has released a whole pile of PvP statistics for EVE Online, tallying up all of the millions of ship explosions that occurred from December 5th, 2007, all the way up to November 29th, 2011. Remember, this is only limited to PvP, so that's a lot of player aggression.

CCP is also once again proving why EVE Online is a mathmatician's game, as they go into finer detail, covering the probability rate of getting squished per sector, the top 20 ship groups targeted, the individual ship types targeted, the highest death rates to NPCs, and... well, you get the point. There are a lot of numbers in there, and even a few pie charts thrown in for fun, so if you want to look at a lot of stats for EVE Online, mosy on over to the EVE Online dev post to check it out.

EVE Online's new Crucible Expansion Trailer

I'll admit, this... really makes me want to play EVE Online. So I guess the trailer did its job. I'm just not sure if I want to lose months of my life the instant I pick up the game. For any of you who can spare the time, however, EVE Online's newest expansion trailer for Crucible is looking incredible from all angles. Better ships, a huge graphic updates, bigger explosions, hundreds of bug fixes, all set to a funky soundtrack? Sounds like a recipe for greatness.

Or an EVE Online expansion. Take a look if you don't believe me.

EVE Online: Crucible Deploys on Tuesday

The deployment of EVE Online: Crucible is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29th after extended downtime. The downtime will begin at 08:00 UTC and is expected to be completed at 14:00 UTC. Account management and website services will also be down from 08:15 UTC until approximately 10:30 UTC.

EVE Online: Crucible brings new ships, evolved graphics, interface, and game mechanics with over three dozen updated and improved features based on feedback and challenges put forth by its players.

EVE Online highlights smaller UI improvements

Corporation Wallet Tooltips! Now you can see your corporation wallet division's balance when you just hover over the wallet button! World Map Control Panel stays minimized! Insurance information improved! Skill information improved! Skill queue improved! All relatively small things, but imagine dozens upon dozens of little UI changes like this! It's madness!

In their new dev blog post, CCP highlighted some of the little UI improvements they would be making to the game, including... all of the above. Lookin' good!

EVE Online's "Crucible" Expansion Coming November

Amongst the millions of Dev Blogs and Video Updates, CCP is finally ready to mark a date for their Winter Expansion to EVE Online. Dubbed "The Crucible," This new expansion will bring swarms of little - and big! - changes to EVE Online as the team focuses on getting back to the basics of what made their game so popular in the first place. Graphical upgrades are a big focus this time around,in addition to introducing a pile of new ships, some significant UI changes, and some big mechanic updates.

According to the official feature website, EVE Online will be re-forged anew with their upcoming Crucible Expansion. Oh CCP, you are so witty with your words.

To celebrate the launch of their Crucible Expansion (and the holidays!) CCP is also offering some nice bonus items for their subscribers, starting with a new implant, the Genolution CA-1, for anyone subscribed who logs in on November 29th.

New EVE Video highlights Customer Relations

These EVE Online highlight videos are getting more and more odd as CCP Guard talks to CCP's Customer Relations and Virtual Worlds team. In the video, the team talks about the things they're doing to reduce downtime while increasing their ability to respond to GM calls and customer needs. It's an interesting watch, if just to see how CCP is aiming to improve themselves. Also, I can't get enough of video's introduction. Excellent work.

New EVE Dev Video Highlights Core Technology

A new developer video feature from CCP highlights some new core technology updates coming to EVE Online, including a brand new launcher, a new character viewer, more shadow details on ships, a vastly improved star map, and some Rubik's Cube solving. I'm not entirely sure why that last bit is in there, but it is. In fact, Rubik's Cube solving appears to be featured near the end. Don't ask me why.

New EVE Video details upcoming features

Since I haven't really played EVE Online much, I'll admit that not all of these changes are making much sense to me. That being said, however, CCP's latest video featuring their Winter Expansion Feature Team is still a fun watch, if just to see how tall CCP Tallest really is. In their upcoming Winter Expansion, CCP is planning to jump on community feedback to really get some balance changes and updates coming in. CCP Soundwave notes that they've done "more rebalancing in the past month than [they] have in the past two years." That's a lot of balancing.

Take a peek at the video for some great new content coming in EVE Online, although as CCP Soundwave says, "it's going to be exciting for spaceships. If you like spaceships. If you don't likespace ships, you're going to be really disappointed." I was hoping for a new monocle,  but I guess an exciting spaceship update will suffice.
