Update Notes: Tuesday August 27, 2019

Centuries of war against the children of Veeshan have made the Kromzek giants master tacticians and warriors of unrivaled strength, but now the power and ruthlessness of their nation has been magnified by the presence of their god, within their very midst! Intruders to their mountain fortress are sure to be swiftly met with the giants' zealotry and their merciless blades. Could the untold fortunes and celestial blessings that lie behind the frozen walls of Kael Drakkel be worth the bargain of your very life? Do you have the skills and mettle necessary to challenge the infamous giants of Velious?

Storm your way into Fabled Kael Drakkel from the Prophecy Portal Gallery of Myrist, the Great Library, and go toe to giant toe with the Kromzek!

  • The Battleground and Proving Grounds servers have been removed and will no longer be accessible. Any player that was logged out on these servers will be returned to their home server.
  • The maximum mount level has increased to 20, bringing with it 3 new mount gear type slots, and 2 more barding slots!
  • Season Six familiars are now available in game and on the marketplace! With this season a new simplified buff format is being introduced that displays the total stat for that level of familiar, instead of having an entry for the base familiar and the leveled bonus.
  • The top tier of familiars have been re-labeled as Celestial. This is a labeling consistency change, and does not change buff amounts, how much experience a familiar is worth when consumed, or how much they take to level.
  • Desert of Flames hunters missions are now available on Kaladim.
  • Yun Zi has some new and interesting ideas in what it means to be a great explorer, find him in Sundered Frontier to find out what that crazy Hua Mein is up to now.
  • Removed the numeric values listed in Chaotic Leech as they could be misleading in some expert zones. This removal is temporary while we deploy a new method of dynamically updating the examine information to have the correct values.
  • Removed a flag that could prevent players from entering Chaos Descending Public Quest zones other than the first unless they were grouped.
Desert of Flames
  • A new fabled mount drop has been added to some of the Desert of Flames Instances on time-locked servers.
  • Tile of Foolhardy Tiled Marble has been added to Barrius Nam'terin once all four Public Tradeskill Apprentices have been completed.
  • Tile of Mischievous Tiled Marble has been added to Barrius Nam'terin once all four Public Tradeskill Apprentices have been completed.
New Fabled Zone: Fabled Kael Drakkel
  • Contest the Kromzek’s ownership of their ancestral home from the Prophecy Portal Gallery of Myrist, the Great Library!
Fabled Temple of Rallos Zek: Foundations of Stone [Raid]
  • The infamous Statue of Rallos Zek looms over this temple, followed and worshiped by some of the most fierce of the Kromzek giants! Bring your raiding party and test your determination to acquire new powerful loot. There are five major encounters with some new tricks, ranging from middle-tier difficulty all the way to top-tier in this all new fabled version of the popular Velious raid. You can access the raid zone from the Prophecy Portal Gallery in Myrist, The Great Library.
Fabled Throne of Storms: Hall of Legends [Raid]
  • Do you and your raiding party have what it takes to stand before the mighty King Tormax? New loot and five major encounters with some new strategies await you, ranging from middle-tier difficulty all the way to top-tier in this all new fabled version of the popular Velious raid. You can access the raid zone from the Prophecy Portal Gallery in Myrist, The Great Library.
  • Many more house items can now stack, including ornate spoon, ornate knife, wooden table setting, Teir'dal shot glass, and Teir'dal cocktail glass.

Producer's Letter: Carnage in Kael & more!

Greetings, fair Norrathians!

The first half of the year has been great thanks to you, our amazing players!
We are preparing to bring you Game Update 111: Carnage in Kael on August 27! It wasn’t originally planned for the year, but the team stayed late and snuck in on weekends to give you more content to chew up as we work on the expansion and events! There is a giant-sized tankard of events as we head into our 15th Anniversary and expansion season….

Speaking of expansions, EverQuest II will be raising the adventurer level cap to 120 this year! With that in mind, last year’s Chaos Descending expansion will be on sale at 50% off at everquest2.com/expansions as of August 21. Get ready for this year’s expansion!

About our not-yet-announced expansion, we wanted to give you a hint about the new location you’ll be travelling to this December! WHERE IS THAT?

Also, earlier this year, I talked about putting together a fan event which we are exploring for next year. That said, we wanted to get a feel for how many players would be interested, so we have a survey here: LINK. We want to get an idea of how many players are interested and a couple of other questions. Please participate if you are interested in hanging with your EQ friends and family for a couple of days!

Of course, the 15th Anniversary for EverQuest II coming November 9 and is a HUGE milestone for us! The team managed to carve out time to not only deliver new content for Heroes’ Festival but also a completely new server-wide event on live servers. The dragon-themed event will come with a reward that is a FIRST-EVER for EverQuest II players. We are excited to get one ourselves! Stay tuned.

The team is also planning to launch a new server for the anniversary which will have a unique rule-set. Hints? Start as a Heroic Character with all content unlocked up to the Chaos Descending expansion and live server (normal) experience rates!

We’ll be announcing more details as we get closer to November!

Until then, enjoy the game update on August 27, and dive into our third year of Panda Events, get your mounts up to level 20 with their new level cap, and enjoy a new season of familiars available on the marketplace and in game. Also, look to Labor Day weekend for some in-game bonuses and get ready for Gear-up, Level-up Bonuses starting next month!

You’ll be hearing a lot more from us as we head into fall and prepare for a fantastical winter!
Sincerely, always,

Holly “Windstalker” Longdale

Season Two of Nagafen, the PvP event server is upon us!

  • More Info: https://www.everquest2.com/news/eq2-nagafen-pvp-server-faq-2019
  • As well as some updated announcements: https://www.everquest2.com/news/eq2-kaladim-nagafen-update-july-2019
  • New Achievements, Appearance armor, and Titles for Unique kills.
  • Blue Stats have been added to equipment. Blue stats will grant a reduced benefit in pvp combat.
  • Most encounters will have some combat mitigation and deal more damage to account for a portion of the power gained from blue stats.
  • Experience potions have been removed from the Nagafen marketplace.
Level Progression
  • This is a PvP server, so the majority of your progression will come from PvP fights. When you defeat an opponent, you will be given an XP reward, with unique kills giving you much more experience than players you have taken down previously. The more you defeat the same player, the less they will be worth. Quest experience will be the next best experience available, with NPC encounter experience rewards being relatively low in comparison.
  • You may now disable adventure experience, which includes pvp experience, by right clicking your experience bar in game.
  • Discovery XP has been greatly reduced.
Free-For-All PvP
  • PvP combat will be free-for-all and factionless, which means that anyone outside of your group or raid will be considered a hostile target. Every player is a potential target, and every player is a potential group mate, so you'd better learn how to make friends fast.
  • Speaking to the Priest of Discord in Freeport and Qeynos will open a PvP leaderboard which will display a sortable list of all pvp leaders.
Bounty Missions
  • Once you have obtained level 15 you will become eligible for PvP bounties, granted by the Priest of Discord in Freeport and Qeynos. These bounties will update when you defeat one of the top 15 PvP leaderboard members of the appropriate type. While on a bounty mission you will have access to the Bounty Tracker inventory item to assist you in tracking down your targets.
  • Experience from bounties has been reduced in season 2.
Zones and Player Vs. Player Level Range
  • "Newbie" zones will have a 4 level PvP range. Zones that are included in the 4 level PvP range are: Antonica, Commonlands, Darklight Wood, Frostfang Sea, Oakmyst Forest, Outpost of the Overlord, Queen's Colony, The Caves, The Forest Ruins, The Graveyard, The Peat Bog, The Ruins, The Sprawl, The Sunken City, Big Bend, Stonestair Byway, Temple Street, Beggar's Court, Longshadow Alley, Scale Yard, Nettleville, Starcrest Commune, Graystone Yard, Castleview Hamlet, The Willow Wood, and The Baubbleshire. Normal zones will have an 8 level PvP range and zones intended for level 40+ will have an unlimited PvP range. The only non-PvP zones will be Freeport and Qeynos. All other zones are open for business.
  • Icy Dig has been lowered to Tier 1 heroic difficulty and treasure has been lowered in quality.
PvP Death
  • Characters that are killed in PvP will drop up to 70% of the coin they are carrying with them. Coin kept in the bank is not affected. There is also a chance that they will drop one of the tradeable items that they are carrying in their bags.
PvP Combat
  • Healing has been reduced overall by 30%.
  • Druid Regens have been reduced in pvp combat.
  • Crusader heals have been reduced in pvp combat.
  • Scout Damage has been increased.
  • Autoattack damage has been increased for all classes.
  • Control procs have had pvp templates applied.

Update Notes: Tuesday July 23, 2019

Pedestal of Sky

  • Simayak and Barakah have returned to Pedestal of Sky.
  • Loot from Pedestal of Sky will now spawn normally instead of being triggered by destroying the orb in the room.

  • Menhir or There - Gathering beryl and stibnite crystals is now a group update.

  • Elemental Blast has been updated as it could cause a significant amount of lag when cast due to each spell hit being individually processed first from the caster, to the pet where it applied modifying effects, then to the target. The ability now does its damage in a single strike sourced from the caster. However to adjust for the damage increase this causes, the ability will deal 50% of the caster’s maximum health to the target, which may be warded, and 150% of the pets maximum health to the pet, which may not be prevented.

Update Notes: Tuesday June 18, 2019

  • Fallen Gate / Antonia Bayle Merge: During downtime we will be merging missed Wardrobe data.

  • Chaos Descending Expert Dungeons are now available! If you meet the requirements for their Heroic counterparts, then you may enter Expert dungeons through the same portals within the Elemental Portal Gallery in Myrist, the Great Library.

2019 Summer Ethereal Event is now available. While the ethereal event is running, completing any Chaos Descending solo mission will grant an Astral Ethereal reward crate. When the Astral Ethereal reward crate is received it grants an Astral Gloom-Hardened Medallion up to your daily limit, and a small chance to receive a bonus reward based on the current Ethereal Wave. You may only receive 4 Astral Gloom-Hardened Medallions per day on each character from expert missions, 1 Astral Gloom-Hardened Medallion per day on each character from solo missions, and 1 Astral Gloom-Hardened Medallion per day on each character from Public Quest missions. On the test server, and only on the test server, solo missions will count as both the solo mission and an expert mission for calculating ethereal rewards.

Astral Gloom-Hardened Medallions may be used to purchase rewards from the Ethereal Merchant located in Myrist, the Great Library. During wave 1 the Ethereal Merchant will sell Gloom-Hardened armor pieces, and Astral Gloom-Hardened Shards. Astral Gloom-Hardened Shard may be used to upgrade the planar level of Gloom-Hardened armor.

Unlike in previous ethereal events, Astral Gloom-Hardened Medallions will not be made Heirloom at the end of the event. Instead, once a character has three fully upgraded Gloom-Hardened armor pieces, they will receive an account flag that allows them to upgrade Gloom-Hardened armor without expending shards on all characters on the account.
