Face of Mankind Cancelled. DS Begins on Nanoverse

Many of us have followed the development of Face of Mankind, including playing beta servers and enjoying the community, for some years now.  It's with a truly broken heart that I report that FoM development has been cancelled by Duplex Systems.
We all know that you are eagerly awaiting Face of Mankind: Rebirth and we are
very greatful that you stayed with us. This makes the following announcement
even more sad for us.

The development of Face of Mankind: Rebirth has been canceled. There are several
reasons for this decision, of which some you might understand and others you won't.
The main reason is the lack of financial resources to develop the game and finish
it the way we want. FoM, as many other MMORPGs today, is a game that relies heavily
on visual content. For us, being only a small development studio with very limited
resources, it would be nearly impossible to make the game we want it to be. You
might wonder what there is to change? It runs fine and works in a way. That's right,
but not the way it's supposed to. And spending so much more power and private funding
into the project made not much sense anymore. There might be a time for FoM in the
future, but it's just not now.
They've announced work on their newest project, Nanoverse Online, which attempts to forgo the graphical problem.  I wish nothing but the best for the entire DS team!  They've brought quite a few smiles to my face with FoM and I know NO will do the same!

FoM Letter to the Community

Face of Mankind has posted a letter to their player community regarding the future of their game.
many of you are waiting to hear word from us about the future of Face of Mankind.
Since we have been informed about the cease of service by Ojom at the end of november, we had to do a lot of thinking and planning. The main questions were whether we would be able to continue hosting the game by ourselves and if we would be willing to take the financial risks involved.
We have spent a lot of efforts, diligence, money and even health into the project, and we are not willing to give it up that easily. So we decided to go on, with a few changes, but at least go on.

In order to be able to host the game on our own, we need to simplify everything a lot. During the last weeks we've come up with a concept for this, which I'd like to present to you roughly.
By simplification I mean the game, the server structure and the portal.
I truly hope this amazing game makes positive steps forward!  If you haven't yet, give it a try!
