Interview: En Masse's Future

Over at Gamasutra, Christian Nutt interviews publishing vice president Chris Lee on topics such as targeting Tera, attracting the right audience, and life beyond Tera. They say several hopeful things! I'm pleased at how seriously they seem to be taking the West, but it still remains to be seen how it all plays out at launch and beyond. This is something that has been promised by others many times, but not always delivered upon. For now, we can hope.

  • Absolutely targeted at the Western market with a vision which involves global success.
  • Studied Western gamers' preferences and other successful Western games to decide their approach.
  • Confident that experienced PC MMO gamers will appreciate the game and its action gameplay.
  • Calculated to go after an audience used to playing console games and introduce them to the genre.
  • Post-Tera launch, will investigate adding a small portfolio of high quality titles to their lineup.

OnlineWelten Talks to Jason "BrotherMagneto" Mical

It seems that once again, Western players are showing an obsession with Popori reproduction, while also being concerned with armors being too sexy despite the lore explaining it all. I'm sure many will be happy to hear that there will be upcoming talks about an achievement system. Regarding the Valkyon points, part of the political system and PvP, and how political clout is best gained by defeating skilled enemies or others with clout, it seems a bit similar to Aion's Abyss Points system which scales PvP rewards by rank comparison. Other good news to hear is that a database will be offered, as well as providing an open API for people to get character data and other things.
