To celebate the one-year anniversary of the game, which occurred on Halloween 2008, Disney's asking players to shoot a video of themselves (with their pirate gear, of course) explaining why they love Pirates of the Caribbean Online. The grand prize winner gets a ton of stuff, including a 3-day trip for 2 to Disneyland (including airfare), two night accomodations at the Disneyland Hotel (with one of those nights being in the Pirates of the Caribbean Suite), a chance to meet the Pirates of the Caribbean Online crew, and more!

Also, according to a press release by Disney Online, "Pirates of the Caribbean Online partnered with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to bring a little Pirates magic into the life of Job McCully, a 10-year-old boy in Arkansas who is a leukemia survivor and has endured a bone marrow and double lung transplant." The episode will air this Sunday at 8 p.m. PST on ABC.

Pirates of the Caribbean Online Adds Privateering

Ahoy, pirate lovers! Are you ready to pillage and plunder? Pirates of the Caribbean Online has added new content to allow you to do just that: privateering! Read on for details...

Disney Online has added Privateering to Pirates of the Caribbean Online! Players must side with the Frenchman Pierre by setting sail from the privateering port of Ile D'Etable De Porc - or side with the Spaniard Garcia by departing from Isla De La Avaricia. Then, with a "private license" in hand and able crew in tow, players can set off for some pillaging and plundering on the high seas!

Both Basic and Unlimited Access players can engage in Privateering. Pirate "Lords" on both islands will additionally challenge players with quests that, upon completion, will gain players gold and reputation points - not to mention a special Spanish or French tattoo! For background information on Privateering, players can check out the new Lore Journal "The Rise of the Privateer," on the game's website.

In addition to Privateering, Disney Online has made a number of enhancements to the Crew Interface, making it easier for players to gauge their Crewmember's health, bonuses, and overall status.
