Undead Labs Posts Profit Sharing Plan

Undead Labs, makers of the upcoming zombie-based console MMO, have posted their Employee Profit Sharing Plan for all the world to see.

Founder Jeff Strain has taken a stance to make sure that the people who pour their blood, sweat, and BRAAAINS into the making of this game will see the fruits of their labors. While their lawyer expressed that posting the plan online was not advised due to the fact that other companies could steal the model, Jeff was hoping that would be the exact case:

"I actually want other studios to copy our plan. My hope is that those studio heads that do not already offer a written plan can use ours as a template and offer it to their own developers. It’s a great way to treat developers. And it’s just good business. Trust is earned, not granted. I hope to earn your trust by creating a fair plan, putting it in writing, and standing by it."

Strain has set his model so that it cannot be changed. Developers will be rewarded for their work as the game continues to progress, as opposed to funneling money to higher executives.

Undead Labs Answers Questions from Fans

It's been a year since Undead Labs formed to develop a zombie-based console MMO, and the company's remained relatively quiet about their project. The site's been updated fairly regularly over the last few months to introduce members of the team, but the blog hasn't contained many specific details about the game. Until now, of course.

Producer Emily Diehl just joined Undead Labs last week, but she has already collected questions from various forums and posted answers from the team. Diehl emphasizes that they can't go into great detail on certain topics since the game is still in early development, but the Q&A is definitely an interesting read if you're looking forward to this zombie MMO. It also gives us a glimpse at some new concept art, which can be seen above.

Undead Labs Formed to Develop Console Zombie MMO

Would you be interested in playing a console-based zombie MMO? If you answered yes, you'll want to keep an eye on Undead Labs. Jeff Strain, who has worked on many Blizzard titles and co-founded ArenaNet during his long career in the gaming industry, announced today that the Seattle-based studio has been formed to develop a zombie MMO for high-end consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While many new studios try to keep their upcoming games a secret, Undead Labs is attempting to be transparent during the development process. Strain has already posted a Q&A to address all of the rude questions that teams are asked about their games. The zombie MMO will almost certainly be subscription-based since Strain doesn't like the "nickel-and-dime approach" of microtransactions. You can read the full Q&A after the jump.

Strain conducted interviews with Develop Magazine, Eurogamer and Destructoid to coincide with today's announcement. Check them out to see what else Strain has to say about Undead Labs and his MMOZ.
