Patch 3.0.2 Released :: ZAM

If you login right now you'll be able to download the whopping 1.3gb patch, thankfully if you've been running the background downloader the last few months you only should have to download a few hundred megabytes.

Keep reading for a run down on what's to come in this patch...

New things:

Barber Shops! You can find them located in Ironforge, Stormwind, Undercity, and Orgrimmar. More info on them can be found here.
Achievements have been added! Have fun earning them and maybe some of them will give you cool mounts, tabards, pets and even titles!
Stormwind now has a harbor! Enjoy taking a leisurely boat ride from Auberdine to Stormwind! And in the future to Borean Tundra!
Vanity pets and mounts have been moved out of your bags and have entered the all new pet interface on your character screen. This frees up mucho bag space!
A new in-game calendar has been added, you can use this to track holidays and raids or whatever you want!
The amount of experience between 60 and 70 has been adjusted, enjoy faster leveling!
Badges and pvp tokens have moved to the new token interface in the character window, even more bag space is freed up!
The Caverns of Time has opened up a new portal, but you won't be able to enter it until you reach a higher level. Here you will go back in time and help Arthas in the Culling of Stratholme.
Spell damage and healing have been merged into one stat called spell power, all healing gear has been lowered but now gives equal spell damage and the coefficients on heals have been raised to allow the same amount of healing.
All items that gave one school of spell damage have been converted to normal spell power, such sets as Frozen Shadow Weave and Spellfire.
All TBC raid mobs have had their health reduced approximately 30%.
Illidan no longer shears!
Tons of class changes and new talents! We get a free respec!
Two new arenas have been added and we can play in! Queue up today to visit Dalaran Sewers and the Orgrimmar Arena!
New honor rewards have been added at level 70!
Macros and keybindings are now stored server side! We can now switch computers without rewriting every single macro in existance!

That's about everything new, more will be added as it is discovered but this should be about everything new!

...how it works on PTR; but magically breaks when they copy it over to Live.

and yes, i have run my own game servers of NeverWinter Nights (private test server) and handy over the 'world' to the group of NWNers i use to run with and we never had trouble.

so i do not understand how code that worked on one server-set (PTR) will break when put on another (Live).

and yes, i'm getting pissy, because:

1) the server i play on was at Medium load; yet i was stuck at character retrieval for 15min before i gave up.
2) as of this post i'm looking at "Authenticating" and have been for the past 10min
3) the forums are down so i have no idea wtf is going on
4) i have an error \Interface\FrameXML\PaperDollFrame.lua and i have NO INTERFACE OR WTF folder (i deleted them to see if a mod was causing the error) and a google search reveals someone else having the same error..but guess what...the possible fix is on the WoW-forums, which are down.

I will never understand...

Yep. Same for me 1-3 , with the exception of 4. However , I did get past the char selection , only to get stuck on the screen just before the realm loads rofl. I never played wow before just a few days ago , I'm wondering if the 50$ the battle chest costed me would of been better spent on lets say , beer ? lol

I got a char list and they are not even my char on that server took like 20mins to even get this list. Just 9 level 1 char :(

uhh...I finally got in but my entire friends list is wiped clean. No names at all. Anyone else have this problem? I hope it can be restored because my memory and the funkiness of toon names will make recall hard.

lol , I get past the char selection only to get stuck between it and the realm , the screen where you see a progress bar with a tip.

I love patch days...servers have been out of order for 15 hours now. Hell the realm status on WoWs main page is even broken and the site is sooo over populated, its slow as mole asses.../sigh

Yeah. Anti-woot. Of all the servers I have characters on, only 1 lets me actually log into characters, and most of the servers I play aren't even listed yet. :( I hate having to have days off on Tuesday. The intro is indeed very pretty, as are the loading screens. Here's to hoping what I did get to momentarily see is as cool as it looked.

Anyone else notice that not all realms are listed on the update sheet? Wildhammer is not even on the list. allt he other realms say Offline, online, low medium or high... but wildhammer isnt even listed? any reasons come to mind?

This is how it works for the servers.

If the server name is colored you can access it.
If the server name is in grey, it means that they have the server down working on it but will be up soon, if your server is not listed at all it's because they have taken it completely offline for major work and unless they post a notice about when it will come back up, the time down is indeterminate.

Its just not up at all yet...the ones that are offline were up for a bit but have the character list issue I think.

My server's name has yet to be listed either.

mine played the BC intro, and the WoTLK isnt an option in my cinematics....

I promise I installed the update...I noticed the first file it installs was an .avi, but I fail..

I have the 2.4.3-3.0.1 patch in my updates folder, yet it wont install it so I'm having to upload the 2.4.3-3.0.2.. the whole 1.2GIG. Any one know why?

Reasons why site is not working is probably billions of players are going onto the website, and the servers probably can't handle that on the website. Also for realms, if too many players sign on at once it seems to affect your character list retrieval. Just give it some time and everything will straighten out.

yup having problems with character retrieval also and the main WOW site is screwy and slow also

ugggg... today was my day off .. i had planned to spend it lvling my rogue ... doesnt seem that i will be doing that ... and considering that i missed a whole day of play due to the game being down ... i should get one extra day to play ... SADNESS

I just had a WoWgasm from PTR and now that it's here I WoWgasm'ed again, WotLK is gonna make me explode in a WoWgasm. I declare Nov.13th a Holiday it shall hence forth be known as Day of the Lich King! xO

Log-in screen is pretty spiffy, but I got TBC's intro movie before that. Was kinda weird. None of the realms are up right now, guess I have to wait to come back home from work before I can resituate my characters' talent trees.

The download was super quick, 5 min tops, but the install is taking forever, 8 min later and it's only at 16%, I'll let ya know how it goes :/

Install complete. (yay!) *something broke in WoW you have to repair it* (Boo!) *WoW successfully repaired* (good) Now I'm presently reinstalling the new patch. (bad) Stay tuned for up to the minute coverage!

If you are finding that the Background download is going a little two slow, you can always go here http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors. They have torrents of the partials and stuff.

I tried to use the blizzard downloader but would of taken about 8 hours. Using the torrents it took all of about 23mins of downloading (depending on your connection of course)

Anyway thought I would pass on the info.
