rolling for gems?
# Jul 11 2003 at 11:12 AM Rating: Decent
hello guys, I just had a question on how you guys were handling these new gem drops during XP. Our group started rolling for the gems that dropped, but one was dropping like almost every other kill. This was really slowing down our game. Just was wondering how everyone is making sure that everyone gets a gem, without slowing down the game.

Alright here's what i have been doing with the looting of gems:
Well since i am usually at hexbones (and undead drop gems more often than animals) we get alot of gems. I am good at decefering what the gem is for, so I asked my group what they were mainly focusing on in crafting ( one wasnt doing it, i was doing jewelry, one was armor, and one weapons). So i collected and distributed the gems via whoever needed the gem for their crafting needs. That's just me so i dont know if it helps but i hope it does.

this is a new thing, i agree, and rolling for the gems would slow down xping significantly. they dropped alot more than i thought they would. what we did was when we were done xping, we just asked each other which people wanted what. this one guy wanted jewelry stuff, and i wanted armor gems. so we traded what we had. but that's the only suggestion i had.

trade skill xp
# Jul 11 2003 at 8:46 AM Rating: Excellent
I noticed as I was trying to build Jewelry skill xp I only got about 135xp unless I created a new recipe with a gem then i got around 1300xp. When I was building my weapon skill I always got around 1300xp, it didn't matter if the weapon had stats or was crude iron. Do your PC stats effect the amount of xp you get per skill?

It also takes forever to level up your jewelcrafting, i spent about 20,000 tunar going from lvl 1 to lvl 2, but then it gets easier.

molds and kits
# Jul 11 2003 at 6:37 AM Rating: Decent
Just in case someone did not know yet, you can buy armor molds and receipes in Neriak and freeport, both times by the blacksmith. In freeport you can upgrade your armor smithing hammer and jewelers kits as well..

# Jul 12 2003 at 11:04 PM Rating: Decent
Rivervale also has a full line of jewelry kits into the 30's level at least.

I saw one too. He was Icup a drd on CL server. They said to fix yourself to use trueform to fix. It happens because of people who log off in their alt form (bear, wolf).
receipes
# Jul 11 2003 at 2:04 AM Rating: Decent
You will have a receipe list as you make the new item the more items you make over and over and over lol you can use better ore to make higher lvl stuff,i have found over 200 gems so far that droped at the some place of the some wildlife. its not the lvl of mob its the lvl of your crafting that makes good stuff. As for the special ore well that drops off mobs too. this is very time comsuming thing thing to do in the game but its sore better than fishing lol... (Tharmus 41 necro Diren Hold server)

Good luck and watch you cash drop fast :P

Well as far as smithing goes i like the idea, i would however like to find a list of gemstones that have been found and where they were found. like i found a gemstone on a wasp by teth, altho i got loged poff seconds later so i didnt see what type it was.
Also a list of the gems difficulty would be nice, like what levelk you have to be to use it.

RE: rare ores

plain and clearly if you got that many in the 1st day they aren't rare.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 10 2003 at 9:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am very confused on how this whole trade skill thing goes. What should I do first to build xp so I can make more stuff (higher lvl) I am a caster so I was concentrating on jewelry but any input would be greatly appreciated.
RGE Armor
# Jul 10 2003 at 9:13 PM Rating: Excellent
Last posted by an Anonymous person: can a barb rge make rge armour as of yet i have only been able to make armour for other classes such as warr,sk, and pal if you hav any info on the subject i would appreciate it. if it is a waste of time i will not pursue the armour making skill

Good question. I'm not too sure about that either because I'm a caster so I'm concentrating on jewlery as of now. I think the class of the armor you crafted all depends on which gem you used to craft it. For example, a gem that enhances you to cast spells gives POWER, which would be mostly for a caster. A gem that gives STRENGTH and STAMINA would be for tanks, and so on.

If your concentrating on a specific skill and you find gems that could only be used for other skills you do not yet have XP in, I suggest you sell them for other gems that add to your main skill.

I'm trading gems that are used in the making of armor. If you would like to trade, please send me a tell (see character and server info below).

If you sold your tool on mistake, just buy another one from the same NPC you bought your first one. Just make sure you buy the one that is appropriate for your level. I'm level 34 and there's level 31 and level 36 jewelry kits, I buy the level 31 kit.

Good Luck!

Recipe
# Jul 10 2003 at 8:47 PM Rating: Excellent
Here's an example of a recipe I made up today:

iron bar (1)
earring mold (1)
aquaria (1) <----Gem that gives power (I don't remember the gem's exact name).

Result: Level 3 earrings that give 6POW.

Obviously it's sucky because I'm just starting but you can make plenty cool things when your high in the making. Let's say your main character is in the 40's or 50 and you decide on making an alt. Crafting low level items with the best gems in that level range can make some pretty good stuff for your alt.
How to start trading skills
# Jul 10 2003 at 8:40 PM Rating: Excellent
First talk to the jeweler/armor smithy/weapon smithy in your home city and read everything untill you completely understand everything the NPC said.

Then head to the trade skills merchant (he/she should be right next to the trade skills NPC) and buy a good amount of iron bars, the standard gem (for example in Neriak it's glass) and all the molds.

In order to hit level 2 easily, I combine glass (1), iron bar (1) and any mold. This gives me 150-175 XP each. I continue doing this untill I gain one level. By the way, you need 10 ranks to hit the next level.

When you hit level 2 in which ever skill you are concentrating on, buy the next type of metal bar. For example, iron bars cost 20 tunar, copper 30, bronze 50...and so on.

When XP'ing, keep an eye on gems. They drop all over Tunaria. Gems can be added to jewelry, weaponry or armory (you find this out by inspecting it from your inventory). A gem that adds to jewelry cannot be used for any other skill (weapon and armor making).
